Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Well that's a welcome addition. Nice that they let him keep the DB5. Wonder if he had to pay taxes on it?
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Classic! Good to see that!

Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Well so far we have the DB5 and Martini glasses, a few classic Bond elements - Mendes prob going for a winning formula
Just need a iconic villain, loads of birds and a classic gadget!!
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Very good,I´ts a good news
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Good continuity, seeing as he won it in the card game in Casino Royale. I hope that's the only shout out to the 50th anniversary, unlike all the shameless shout outs to previous films in DAD nine years ago.

Ha - yeah imagine Daniel Craig with a jet pack!!
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
I'm glad to see this, too. Thought it was a great classic element.
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Craig might try to change the look of Bond but something never change... So happy to see the legendary DB5!

Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Pleased to see the DB5 - I hope there is a decent car chase, but one with minimal damage to that beautiful car.
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Ejector seat anyone?
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Ejector seat anyone?
where in the bond timeline is this new film supposed to sit ?
if its before goldfinger then i would say no to the ejector seat and the rest of the mods.

Haha, there is no timeline, Craig's Bond is in no way connected with the previous ones, they are making it in a completely different way, so no gadgets at all I thing

I assume we are running a new timeline in which Bond wins the DB5 as part of an earlier adventure broadly in sync with the real world passage of time. Unless of course recent photos are meant to suggest that we have Catapaulted forward 20 years and that the rest of the movie is told in flash back (damn and I have been trying so hard to restrain myself!)
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
Always good to see the DB5 however big its role in the film

Indeed. I'll be presently surprised if it's more than an incidental appearance, as in TND. I do enjoy watching it being driven fast, though

no they have to wreck it, like in goldfinger
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
We shall see...
Bond customarily wrecks his duty car, which the DB5 certainly was in GF. More likely it'll just be show arriving at a function, or simply sitting idle/parked. I'd like to be wrong!

Someone take this fool out and slot him.
Given most aston db5's fetch the far side of 160k these days, and are adored by their very rich and careful owners, I'd say the likeliness of a genuine 5 being 'wrecked' very slim.
And that is very fine by me.

Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
As iconic as the car is and as much as I don't want to see it wrecked, somewhere in the end of the second or beginning of the third act the hero's possessions/allies start to get taken out, and it wouldn't surprise me if they decide to do that with the DB5. It's formulaic but then so are most films today. But I would like to see the DB5 buck the expectations.
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
This may be unpopular But, I'd like to see the DB5 destroyed. Mabey Bond has to sacrafice it in a chase to save a friend or something similar. As I never felt the Car fitted in with the New series, Nice car and I'm sure Bond was happy to win it. Although IMHO it dosen't go with the T Ford suits etc Craig's Bond should have a modern Car something which can become a modern icon for a new generation.

I completely agree with you Thunderpussy, even though the DB5 is probably my favourite car of all time.
Connery drove it because that was the car for that particular era. Lazenby, Moore and Dalton never drove it and it was only brought back for Pierce Brosnan in 2 of his films to really lay in concrete the fact that Bond was back after being away for so long (I found it funny that it never appeared in DAD as this harked back to so many previous Bond films - yet they forgot possibly the most classic element of all).
Anyway the DB5 appearing in modern James Bond films to me is just so much of a cliche, which again is strange as they have tried to get away from all of those cliches with Craig's more modern Bond.

It also appeared in a deleted scene from The World Is Not Enough.
Re: Aston Martin DB5 Returns
did it? I agree with the others, having the DB5 just brings back to many bad DAD nightmares
