CR Free Running Scene

Not trying to beat a dead horse here, but after seeing this scene many times it finally came to me why the bomber ran up the crane instead of just through the site, and why Bond didn't just wait for him to come down.

First, the bomber realized as he was running through the site that continuing on ground level could have meant being cornered by the site security men or the construction workers. Given his free running ability he realized that if he climbed the crane he could not only get away from Bond but anyone else. From the top he could quickly exit to any side, given his proven agility and prowess, leaving Bond scrambling to circumvent the entire site and risk losing him completely. Also, he was figuring he could have made his way down the crane and escape before anyone on the ground could reach him. Given his jumping ability, he could have jumped off the crane onto to another structure on his descent if there were any crew waiting to grab him at the bottom. Also, Bond needed to get the bomber's mobile phone to see who had contacted him. If he had given him a break from the chase when he had climbed the crane, it could have given the bomber time to delete the contact.

Last night I had the honour of achieving something I've wanted to do nice seeing this amazing scene in 2006: go Free Running with Sebastian Foucan, aka Mollaka.

I was chatting with a new colleague at work about fitness and she mentioned she goes free running. As I'm sure most of us do :)) , I managed to squeeze in the fact I'm a huge Bond fan and that the CR scene showcases its founder, Sebastian Foucan. So it turns out she knows him and this is the guy she has trained with, and invited me along... How could I resist? :D

So last night I joined a small group of three at Latimer Road in West London and had a lesson with the man himself. He is utterly charming, incredibly warm and friendly, and a sensational athlete. He's also a great tutor and at the end of the session, well... I managed to bounce off and onto some walls, learned how to jump, land and tightrope walk... All from a safe distance of from a few inches to a couple of feet above the floor, and fortunately not from a crane or on top of a building site!

It seemed inappropriate to take photos but his site is here if anyone else feels like taking the plunge.

One of the best henchmen in the past three decades and one of the best chase sequences in the series.
