In my opinion I would have to say Pierce Brosnan.

Bob Simmons - Only a Stuntman, but he did the first Gunbarrel Sequence. The jumping in his was a bit silly though.

Sean Connery - The way he swang his Arm out like that has always felt odd to me

George Lazzenby - Possibly the worst of them all. It was like they never edited it properly because he is still walking when the Gunbarrel stops.

Roger Moore - He had two GunBarrel Sequences. I prefer his first though.

Timothy Dalton - My favorite of all the GunBarrel Sequences. Fast and over with very quickly.

Peirce Brosnan - my second favorite GunBarrel Sequence.

Daniel Craig - He walks like a Monkey in his for some reason. He also is not holding a Gun in his Hand..

I like them all to a certain degree except the original by Bob Simmons which looks clumsy. My favourite is Roger Moore's second gunbarrel walk from The Spy Who Loved Me onwards. It looks the most smooth, the most natural. But what do I know, I've never held a real gun in my hand let alone fire a shot from one. Rather happy about that.

I have held and fired pistols countless times, and it is pretty obvious to me that Moore probably hasn't. He uses a weird sort of shooting style that I frankly have only seen in movies.

I tend to like Dalton's gunbarrels the best: quick, vicious, and business-like.

Incidentally, I'm glad to see Craig wearing suit instead of a tux for his take on the gunbarrel. He's also the only Bond actor who actually uses decent technique in the shoot-outs. All that live-fire training paid off.

Here's the video of all of them through 2008.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IdDl-pHeDw

I think Brosnan had the best ones (except the CGI bullet in Die Another Day). It looks like the model posture and stance, as well as being the right amount of time.

I think Craig's Casino Royale gun barrel was great, and Quantum of Solace was almost as good as Brosnan's, but Craig's run a bit quick and one is non-traditional. I really like the SkyFall one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8GpmrmUjME

Dalton was good, but I find his stance to be iffy. The one thing I loved about Lazenby's was the hard and fast momentum of his drop to the knee without any loss of balance.

Here's my take on all of them:

Connery - Great, love the hat
Lazenby - Different, like that he kneels down
Moore - Good, and the first without a hat
Dalton - Seems more aggressive, which fits well
Brosnan - A little stiff maybe? (I'm being picky though)
Craig - I'm actually unsure on this one tbh, but I'm warming to it

Overall I like them all really. My favourite, if I had to choose, would probably be Connery's (Which is ironically Bob Simmons for the first three films! - I think Connery did it better than Simmons)

Looking at the GIF above of all the Bonds doing the gunbarrel, I notice Moore's is the odd one out: he doesn't appear to have pulled the trigger at all. So for me, Moore's is the worst of them all.

I like Lazenby's "on one knee" stance best.

However, I've never ever held, let alone fired, a pistol (although I've used and fired rifles before). To my untrained eyes, Lazenby's look the most natural, although it appears as though he is the last one to fire out of the six. Moore was quickest on the draw but as I said, it looked as though he never actually fired. To my naked eye, Brosnan seems to be the one who was quickest on the trigger, with the others (except Moore and Lazenby) shooting at more or less the same time.

I'd love to see Craig adopt a Weaver, Chapman, or Isosceles stance when doing the gunbarrel, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm a Chapman man myself, by the way.

Bob Simmons- Classic, but I don't really like how they didn't use Connery for FRWL and GF.

Sean Connery- Connery's walk looks awkward (like others have mentioned it looks like he's going for a specific spot) and the wobble does make me smirk everytime I see it. A decent one.

George Lazenby- I love the crouch, but the treadmill effect really screws the pooch on this one. I do like the continuity of having the producer's names coming up during the intro much like how it did in DN.

Roger Moore (1st version)- Quick, and I do like the snap that Moore shows by suddenly stopping and firing the gun. Although the end pose doesn't look like a very good way to fire a gun accurately. :))

Roger Moore (2nd version)- Suave, sophisticated. Very spy-ish gunbarrel which suits Bond. Moore's end pose also looks the most professional.

Timothy Dalton- Most badass walk of the lot, and Dalton's end pose is very quick and effortless as well. The LTK music helps add to the effect as well.

Pierce Brosnan- Simple yet effective. No showing off needed for Brosnan. Just 'walk, turn, shoot'. Even though I like DAD, I will readily admit that the CGI bullet sucks mightily.

Daniel Craig (1st version)- In terms of the story, it fits perfectly and Craig's pose is awesome. Not to mention the opening strains of 'You Know My Name' help add to the awesomeness.

Daniel Craig (2nd version)- Awful gunbarrel, Craig walks way too fast, it doesn't sync with the music and it really feels like a last minute addition to the film.

Daniel Craig (3rd version)- Craig finally managed to get it right with this one. If they open Bond 24 with this gunbarrel I will be satisfied with it. Craig's pose is also good and looks completely natural, which is what I feel is needed to make a gunbarrel look brilliant.

Interesting to note from the moving image in the above post that Roger Moore's was the only firing gun not to have smoke come out of it for some reason - although I know that he recorded a number of gun barrels!

As for a favourite, I've always rather had a sneaking admiration for George Lazenby's one, though I love the Moore professional "two-handed grip" that was surely his trademark, and I also think that this is how a gun should be fired - see the scene with Locque's car in FYEO and some similar scenes in Octopussy.

Out of all of them, I preferred Dalton's the most. Not only does he allow for a cool stance, I like the speed of it. I mean, we're intended to believe that Bond is turning fast to eliminate an enemy who has a gun on him. only Dalton's combines the speed with flair.

Simmons opening is nice, i like the little jump.

Connery's loses points because he wobbles getting into the final stance.

Lazenby's is smooth, but slow. You're trying to kill someone, not propose.

Moore has a nice ending stance, but he'd be shot dead in the time it takes him to aim the gun two-handed.

Brosnan's is fast, but no flair. Raise the gun and spin. Gunbarrels look cooler when they incorporate a bit of a crouch.

Craig's 1st and 3rd are good, but 'Skyfall"'s is similar to Brosnans. Agreed with others that QOS is the worst of all. Craig looks like he's trying to find the bathroom and shot the guy at the head of the line to get to the toilet faster.

Incidentally, I found these on youtube and I thought they were cool alternate takes of Dalton's stance. i kind of like the jump.

Moore's first gunbarrel is great and probably my favorite. He seems to have had quite an energy doing it. Craig in the Skyfall gunbarrel looks like the iconic merchandising logo art stance from the 1970's and 1980's, but his ACTUAL gunbarrel is nowhere near iconic. Just like a sloppy first draft CGI gunbarrel. And it should be OPENING the film, not ending it (pet peeve).

Connery doing his gunbarrel is cool and energetic. I feel it's a classic, too.

    For me:

    Moore mark I
    Connery
    Craig Skyfall
    Dalton
    Lazenby
    Moore Mark II
    Brosnan
Simmons (Would rank higher if he didn't jump)
Craig QoS (felt like a Brosnan imitation)
Craig CR (HATE the gunbarrel but liked the idea of explaining what the gunbarrel actually was)

I think it was Sean Connery where his gun goes off before he even fully turns around so it looks like he's shooting off to the side.

Quantum of Solace. After being surprisingly absent the whole movie, it comes at the end to close the Vesper chapter. It's fast paced, frantic, brutal with a heavy shot, like the movie itself. Great sound. Love how the gunbarrel turns into a globe-like Q icon and Craig walks out of the barrel just as the title shows.

Connery, with DAF the best gunbarrel of the series. I disliked Brosnan's which looked like it was designed by a latex fetishist. Lazenby's one is amusing as he appears to be walking on a conveyor belt for a second or two. Moore's flared trousers don't sit well, either with viewers or over his shoes.

Gunbarrel-wise, I think it's something like this for me:

    Dalton
    Brosnan (first 3)
    Craig (CR)
    Moore (both stances)
    Connery (first 3/Simmons)
    Lazenby
    Brosnan (DAD)
    Craig (QoS)
    Connery (Last 3)
    Craig (SF)

The ones above the dotted line, I like. The others, I dislike.
