HELP!!! with 1/8th Ast DB5 electronics

I have finally got around to trying to finish this off, on top of all the extra mods i want to do on it.
But when i test out the electronics PCB board after i switch it on it seems to smoke, burnt circuits smell and the board is quite warm to touch.
This is the second time this has happened, as i awaited a replacement part which i have now installed hoping cos of the loose wire in the previous part it would complete the circuit and all light up sing and dance. BUT NOOO. Any one else hear had similar problems, know anything about electronics. Or know anyone that does?
Thing i noticed the PCB board doesn't even have any visible resisters or certainly not a chip to try and replace if burnt out. i'm assuming its practically impossible to make the board from scratch. And i have pretty much given up looking for them on ebay as i've never seen one on there to date. Any help in this matter would be appreciated
