What does James Bond have in common with Star Wars?

You'd think that Bond would have very little in common with Star Wars, wouldn't you? But both franchises have their fair share low points over the years, in each respective series. I mean, Bond's first low point came with the casting of George Lazenby because the guy wasn't an actor and the backlash surrounding OHMSS caused the producers to rehire Sean Connery.

Bond's second low point came with The Man with the Golden Gun because the newspapers printed an article that said, "Bond Loses Golden Touch." And I guess the third low point was when they made a mockery out of the Moonraker storyline. But the fourth low point didn't come until A View to a Kill, when Roger appeared to be geriatric to say the least.

The fifth low point was Die Another Day, because Bond had lost his authenticity. The producers were throwing everything at Brosnan but the kitchen sink...And the sixth low point was Quantum of Solace, because of the writer's strike; it wasn't as well written as Casino Royale and Skyfall.

Of course, Star Wars's low points include the bloody prequel series and the Star Wars Holiday Special, which I hear George Lucas is personally ashamed of.

Too bad, nobody in the EON series is personally ashamed of James Bond Jr. because I think James Bond Jr. actually killed the off-chance of seeing the real James Bond in a serious animation storyline. I mean it's not like they're gonna take the Young James Bond series of novels and turn that into a serious Bond cartoon, will they?

Well, yeah. I guess you're right. I mean the crap Bond does in Die Another Day doesn't look like it could be done in our galaxy.

I am proud to say that I am not a Star Wars fan. Or Star Trek. Or Indiana Jones. Or Lord of the Rings.

    Bond…Just Bond. -{

ONly one connection I can think of.

Star Wars Blasters - Moonraker's "Pew-pew" lasers, as Mini G calls them!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Nope the pew pew guns are different.
Moonraker laser is a type of Uzi.
Star Wars stormtrooper are based on a sterling machine gun.
The headsets are the same though.:-)

Several actors have been in both Bond and Star Wars.
Jeremy Bulluch (Boba Fett in SW and Smithers in 007)

Sorry Chris, I wasn't specific enough. I should have said the "pew pew" versus "squidge - squidge" sound effects when they fire!
I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't ever really scrutinised at the firearms in SW, only the lightsabres!

Good shout on Jeremy Bulloch, I suppose Christopher Lee is the most obvious one re the Prequels? With Jullian Glover from the classic films. Unfussy and unflappable as General Veers, a sadistic piece of classic Fleming on Film as Kristatos!

    - I often thought Ian McDermid would be an excellent Bond baddie, or a Boffin.

    Well, .............

Both have iconic vehicles, The Millennium Falcon and the DB5
Star wars has Obi-Wan Kenobi with his Jedi tricks,
Bond has, Q with his Tec tricks.
Star wars has the evil empire, Bond has Spectre.
Star wars has the Emperor while Bond has Blofeld. :))
