What will A Bond Movie Be Like In Forty Years Time?

Last time I watched DAD, I was wondering this (all the DNA, laser & Robosuit stuff). Bond movies have a history of being sort of technology saavy/predictive (A LASER in 1964?!), and I was wondering just how long it would be before Bond is firing a Walther energy PPK-L? Chasing maladjusted robots? Investigating murders & mutants on Moonbase?
Or will Bond movies go retro, and become something like what Indiana Jones was to us as kids? In the middle of this Century the latter 20th will be pretty frickin' ancient, & ripe for period-piece storytelling.

Thoughts?

    Well, let's look at the legacy of Bond films over 50 years.

    Bond has:

    -Fought all manner of enemies (a man with metal hands, a homicidal gay couple, a midget, an invincible giant with metal teeth, a cruel and sadistic drug lord, a megalomaniacal media magnate, a military strongman who can change his race/ethnicity with the aid of a machine :o etc. etc. )

    -Used all sorts of gadgets (including a jet pack, underwater car and crocodile - which doubles as a submarine!)

    -Performed all manner of unbelievable escapes from danger, or displayed the physical attributes one would normally witness from an Olympic athlete

    -Driven a Moon Buggy and A FRIGGIN' INVISIBLE CAR, fought with LASER GUNS, and gone into OUTER SPACE!!!!! :s :s :s :s


    To sum up my thoughts ( :v ):

    It shouldn't surprise me if, down the future, EON makes more silly Bond entries, particularly with successors of Daniel Craig. I think it would only be natural that if a Bond actor changes, EON makes changes too.

    I'm not sure at all. A part of me would like to see James Bond turn into a Indiana Jones/Sherlock Holmes-type hero, set in the past. On the other hand, as Brosnan_fan pointed out, Bond has often had an element of Sci-fi in him. Perhaps it depends on how the world changes in the next 40 years? In the 1960's many imagined 2014 with flying cars, laser guns and colonies on other planets. In such a world I think Bond would be out of place (yes, we have MR. But Bond looked out of place in MR). Instead we have a world with the internet, smartphones and the war against terror. Skyfall was a movie that was very much about today. At the same time it feels and looks more like a 60's Bond movie than the series has done in a very long time. I guess we have to wait and see.

    Yeah but in 20 years time we'll have found the elixir of life so you'll have no choice but to watch another updated version of MR 40 years into the future :v

    Well, the last two books were retro, I see no reason why EON might not set a reboot back then as well. It WOULD be a novel approach for cinematic Bond, and the fresh approach would definitely be potentially big box office. -{

    In Disney they have shows where you watch a short film , (ok nothing new in that) but then its in 3D (yeah ok I hear you say)
    then they use air /water guns to spray you, and things are built into the seats that stab you in the back, and they pipe smells into your face,So if it was a Bond film
    I suppose you could have bullets whizzing past your face ,feel the force of an explosion , smell the cordite /burning tyres/ perfume ect,and feel the shrapnel ,ect ?

    I just can't imagine a Bond with like, a bionic arm & a tracer implant & a cochlea interface, never disconnected from M, being used like a chess piece...
    I DEFINITELY think that newer 'agent' movies will handle all that whilst Bond will be telling 20th Century stories. Tell ya, I'm already bored with the whole ubiquitous earpiece thing creeping in. 8-)

    That was a great touch. Makes me hopeful for a running gag.
