Re. The Speedback, I am not too overly impressed honestly. Looks a bit like a Mondeo was the father
President of the 'Misty Eyes Club'.

It looks like a DB5 kit car, I'm also not a fan of it. Bond should drive definitely something modern OR the DB5 like we all saw in "Skyfall", but nothing in between.
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,483MI6 Agent
No, it's not a Bond car. And the DB5 has been done to death.

I would like to see it in person before passing on my opinion. I can remember a few cars that I had only seen pics of, and , in the flesh, you fall in love with them.
The DB Speedback may be one of those cars...

The guy that made it refused to say the actual price...I think he said it was "somewhere between £100,000 and £1million" ! So I'm not sure where they got that figure from...?...

At Top Marques in Monaco, David Brown Automotive has announced its Speedback GT will cost £495,000 plus local taxes – meaning it’ll set us UK buyers back a whopping £594,000. I think the popular vernacular term "jog on" springs to mind...

I think that's great valve, when you consider a Dacia Sandero costs £5,995. :))

I cannot wait for the Top Gear team to get hold of one and give it a thrashing round the track!

If they say it's OK I might think about it :D

Otherwise I am saving my pennies for the Aston

Those wire wheels would have to go, though. They look like something you'd find on a dodgy Chinese car copy. Maybe some Borrani's?

I agree. Every other part of the car is like an updated DB5 with a little 1960s Ferrari in there too. But there's nothing updated at all about wire wheels, and that's the part that's trying to hard the most.

So if you have half-a-mill to spend, do you go with an original DB5 or with a Speedback? One is the original but probably costs a fortune to keep on the road. The second is a brand new car with - hopefully - great reliability and all mod cons. I think I'll take both: one for Sundays and one for my day work at Vauxhall.
