Why didn't the films follow the Blofled Trilogy?

  The original plan was to follow the novel sequence, but
  
  (a) Cubby Broccoli thought the plots were too similar (saying that OHMSS was "Thunderball on skis")
  
  (b) The weather conditions weren't right for filming in the Swiss Alps at that time
  
  (c) A combination of both, with the added element of 007's popularity in Japan making YOLT an attractive proposition)

  I just wished they followed the trilogy. Or they could have done a movie between TB and OHMSS

  True, but sadly that didn't happen.
  
  Between TB and OHMSS fell TSWLM (which wasn't going to happen at that point)- perhaps if they'd filmed DAF more faithfully to the novel it would have fitted in?
