Most Unrealistic Bond Movie?

chrisisallchrisisall Western Mass, USAPosts: 9,061MI6 Agent
Which Bond film do you feel demands the highest degree of suspension of disbelief?

Between hollowed-out volcanoes, steel teeth & orbital lasers, there's a lot to choose from.
I'm gonna go with Moonraker.
A private businessman financing a 400 billion dollar operation that COVERTLY puts a space station into orbit? No, sorry, that is the very definition of impossible in my book. :))
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

Whilst Moonraker is high up there, TSWLM has some un-realistic Aspects too.

He was planning to repopulate the world with "perfect" people. They were only a small group though.

That was a stretch; contracting & subcontracting billions in space technology production AND launching the parts into orbit AND assembling it there without financial or space agencies becoming aware of it is more of a *SNAP* than a stretch IMO. :))

It might be a "stereotype " but most "beautiful people " aren't that bright
( look at Zoolander ) ;) So Drax would need the people in yellow suits to
Run everything. While the Beautiful people, concentrate on opening a
    Carton of orange juice. :))

The yellow suits were only like that in case the flight attendants spilling drinks while serving lunch on the way to space....

Taking the question totally literally, there is only one candidate for that prize and I'm surprised no-one has mentioned it so far.

    Casino Royale, 1967.

Zoolander is my idol. I want to be smart like him when I grow up which is why I'm currently going to a school for people who don't read good.

I hope they got round to building " much bigger " school than the one
    They showed Zoolander. :))

Taking photos while driving can be done ! And successfully too ;)
I'm not admitting to it, but it can be done. :D

Maybe I'm just speaking for myself, but perhaps that's because CR '67 isn't really considered to be a real Bond film!

YOLT, Moonraker, DAF, and DAD. Unrealistic doesn't bother me too much though as the first two are some of the most enjoyable for me.

:)) Naturally it isn't, but I did say literally! It's nonetheless technically a Bond film, and is definitely more unrealistic than MR, DAD, and YOLT rolled into one.

I'm with Barbel on this one.

Moonraker stretches the envelope no more than YOLT or DAD in my eyes. Highly improbable on many levels, and Bonds 3rd of 4 outright Sci Fi 007 flicks. (The second being TSWLM).

By contrast, CR-67 is a psycadelic mele that is insane within its own narrative and has a couple of wildly hyper slapstick moments and many sureal moments of nonsense. A complete gadget overload, a storyline so out there it could orbit Mars. Plus Peter Sellars - a talented actor and comedian otherwise, is Crap as Bond!

Exploding Robot Grouse + Drinka-Pinta-Milka-Day BOOM! = Leaves me in hysterics.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I own & regularly enjoy YOLT, DAF & DAD (in that order), however, MR is just TOO unbelievable to me on other than a pure 'Flint' level.

Other than the double take pigeon and Jaws surviving (he could have) ..Moonraker was pretty plausible with the thinking at the time. In 1979 all the stuff in Moonraker would have been thought to only be 10 years away, even the awesome space marines. The movie was billed as science fact, Nasa was on board as advisers, and it was supposed to open with the launching of the space shuttle. At the time the space shuttle concept was to make space travel easy and cheaply. It wasn't the producers fault that NASA's space shuttle program got delayed by years and it was a black hole of money spending and completely ended up being impractical. So my vote goes to YOLT, DAD, CR 67 & Skyfall (only because Bond and M are so inept(Goes against the hyperrealism of all previous Bonds succeeding)-its like a Clouseau movie except Clouseau always succeeded)..went off on tangent. http://the007dossier.com/ is awesome!!!!!! dude has collected really choice bond docs etc.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned TND! He's a well known media figure who does *nothing* to hide the fact that he's a villain. Worse, he's a news provider who publicly admits he fabricates news stories! Then, his whole villain plot is - you guessed it - fabricating news stories! Why isn't anyone questioning this man who very publicly acts like a super-villain?
