to anyone who played Bloodstone

To any of you who played 007 Bloodstone...

Did I miss something? This game had very mediocre (to very poor) reviews. I'm not saying it was the best game ever, but the controls were fluid, it basically played like the Uncharted series. It also had a fairly good story, even though it was short and somewhat predictable towards the end.

Even the very basic driving sequences were nice straightforward ways to break up the action. My only real complaints are the shortness of the campaign, and the focus aim, which was generally useless and just a way to get through areas faster.

Personally I'm disappointed there won't be a sequel but I was mainly just curious how others felt as I finally got around to playing it and enjoyed it quite a bit, especially compared to junk such as 007 Legends, which was reviewed only slightly worse critically.

I played Blood Stone a few years back. While I didn't hate the game, I felt that it was far too generic for its own good, with little-to-no replayability and none of the charms that have made other Bond games (like GoldenEye 64 and Nightfire) so much more memorable. That it lifted one of its primary gameplay mechanics from Splinter Cell: Conviction certainly didn't help matters much.

That being said, I feel like 007 Legends should be tried for war crimes.

007 Legends certainly left a lot to be desired for me. Which is really saying something for me. This is a rare case for me not to like a game like this. I mean I LOVED GoldenEye Reloaded, it was an amazing game. I had such high hopes for 007 Legends but it fell flat on it's face. Honestly though, there were some positives for it. The tweaks that I felt GE needed were there in 007 Legends, in the gun play and such. But it's not enough.

First time I've ever been disappointed in a Eurocom 007 game. TWINE (N64) and Nightfire were great.

I thought Blood Stone has some great aspects. It was visually rather pleasing compared to the first person Bond games of that console generation that used the very dated Call of Duty engine. I also thought it played pretty well and was way better to me than GoldenEye Reloaded. Overall, I'd say Blood Stone is a little underrated and certainly more worth a play than some other Bond games have been.

Certainly Bloodstone was the best Bond entry since EON. Good solid story, pretty good graphics, satisfying takedowns both in hand to hand combat and shooting and some good set pieces. Campaign mode was a little short perhaps and there's not much replay value to be had unless you're an avid achievement/trophy collector. Also the multiplayer was disappointing and nowhere near as in depth as the Goldeneye and Legends games. Still I hope that whoever takes over the Bond franchise uses Bloodstone as a template and doesn't go back to playing like a disguised Call of Duty game.

100% agree with this. Superior multiplayer on Legends and goldeneye reloaded but bloodstone really felt the most like I was playing inside of a bond movie. Even considering that I found Legends multiplayer better than reloaded neither game felt like anything other than a call of duty game with less options. It certainly never made me feel like bond

I agree with the original author of this thread.

Bloodstone was very underrated. Remembering my game play of it, I was impressed. The fluidity of the movement of characters, the multiplayer, the story, it was all good. I must replay this soon. :)

It really is an excellent game, if you haven't already played it I suggest you give it a try. Really plays like a story and has an almost movie quality story.

I am a huge fan of Bloodstone. To me this game felt the most like a Bond movie to me.

The environment graphics were very well done, the racing scenes were spectacular. I loved some of the movie like sequences: jumping in front of a giant tunnel bore/drill thing, towers crashing into the water just as you drive by in a speed boat, racing in a classic Aston Martin. I like how there was both driving and shooting. I like the 3rd person perspective. Both Daniel Craig a Judy Dench (sp?) act in the movie. Since MGM put a hold on Bond movies during the great recession they had to make an original story, so that is why this game is not a movie tie-in.

A lot of the criticism was due to the fact that when it came out AAA titles offered much deeper worlds with more to do. If BS came out a few years prior it probably would have done much better. The avatars didn't look too great and the stories were very linear. That being said I liked the original score and original story. Call me crazy it just brought back that Bond movie feeling I would get as a kid. It even had a Bond girl and lots of exotic locations.

I so wish they would pick up where BS left off. I am so disappointed by the obsession of first person shooters. Not sure why anyone liked Golden Eye Reloaded. To me GER was very generic and boring. Nothing Bond about it for me. QoS had horrible graphics and was similarly boring.

I think it gets a bad rap because it isn't Call of Duty 7000 or whatever it is these days. For me I thought it was well polished, it looked good, played well and it had a nice balance of run'n'gun, driving and stealth. They even left the ending open for a sequel, and instead we got the poor 007 legends.

This was a video game I was not able to get into. I bought it a few years ago and I got bored with it.

Actually playing my way through it now. I got it for Christmas last year. I think this is my third replay. I'm really not much into video games. Just got the PS3 less than two years ago. Going through on 007 difficulty now. It's much more challenging. Live. Die. Repeat.

I loved Blood Stone, still do. It's probably the main reason I leave my 360 hooked up. I never played it online though, it was during a time when I didn't bother having an XBOX Live subscription, so maybe that's where some of the problems were. Especially coming after Quantum Of Solace which had, at least I thought, a pretty fun multiplayer. Blood Stone came at a good time, right in the middle of that 4 year gap between QoS and Skyfall, it was a new original Bond story almost in the style of a Moore or Dalton film. And as many have said it really does feel like a Bond movie. You don't just go around shooting people, there are car chases, a boat chase, stealth a strategy as well as all-out action.

My only real criticism is 007 difficulty, it was probably the most frustrating/difficult thing I've ever done in gaming except for maybe the first two Halo games on Legendary difficulty. Particularly the end, even if I'm just playing on an easy difficulty that bit with Rak and his aircraft gives me Vietnam flashbacks. Timing those jumps and hiding from the machine guns. I got so mad at one point, at that part when you clear out that last big area of bad guys then get in the elevator to go up, somehow Rak was actually able to kill me when I was riding the elevator up. It was a glitch or something, because you're supposed to be safe, there's nowhere to hide of any cover and the next time I got that far I was fine going up. But before I got back there I had to fight that big battle all over again. I completed it once just to get the achievement and the satisfaction of having done it, but I've never played it on that difficulty again, there's nothing fun about it. As somebody said, Live, Die, Repeat. I don't know, maybe there are some good guides out there these days, tactics or exploits that make it easier, when I played it the game was new and I just beat it with trial and error... and throwing the controller around a lot and cursing.

The game did have some fun moments although I did want some more sneaking around, exploring missions. Monaco was my favorite level. Yeah it did get a bit too much "shoot these guys here and then shoot these guys here" until you completed the level.

I wish we could get gambling back in Bond games. Remember when you had to play Black Jack in the TWINE PS1 game during that casino level? That was great.

Man I so wish I could play this game online. Never played it during its launch so I missed out on multiplayer, same as the QoS game. Too bad the game has no bots like Nightfire does.
