Have you ever seen anyone on screen & thought "He would have made a good Bond?"
Which actors (living or dead) do you think could have made a good Bond, M, Q, Miss Moneypenny, Blofeld or any other leading character & why?

As Bond I think Richard Todd may have been a good choice. Though I'm not sure I think his name may have come up with the producers before SC got the part.
With Jack Hawkins as M
Herbert Lom as DR NO
Jean Simmons as Miss Moneypenny
Jane Fonda as Honeychile Ryder
Bond - John Bateman
Bond Girl - Jennifer Connelly
M - Anthony Hopkins
Villain - Bob Hoskins (If he was still alive)
Henchman - Jason Statham
Dirk Bogarde. An early Bond. For me as with my previous casting suggestions, I envisage Bond being produced along far darker lines. In all likelihood this wouldn't have been a success in the same league as the real films yet I feel an interesting take on the franchise nonetheless.
Perhaps a bit more controversial
Lewis Collins. A different Bond for the eighties.
Even he admitted, he screwed up his audition.
If I were to re-cast the Bond films with known actors of the day, here would be the (inferior) results:
1962:
Bond: Patrick McGoohan or Cary Grant
M: James Robertson Justice
Q: Richard Wattis or John McGiver
Moneypenny: Sue Lloyd
Dr. No: Alec Guinness
Tomorrow:
Bond: Adam Rayner
M: Idris Elba
Q: Benedict Cumberbatch
Moneypenny: Carey Mulligan
Blofeld: Helen Mirren
True that! And Idris Elba as M instead of Bond? Now that's a new one! )
I have serious doubts about Alba as Bond, but I've never thought of him as M. What a wonderful idea :007)
Fiennes will be M for the rest of Craig's tennure, but you can be M long after you are too old to play Bond.
Bond girl coleen nolan
M david mccallum
Q robert powell
Villain craig fairbrass
Moneypenny helen baxendale
James Bond- Licence To Kill
James Bond- Colin Firth
He's 54 I know but he would pull of the suave factor really well. I'm motivated after watching the Kingsman Trailer. Also I reckon we could see some of the snobbery of the Bond character in him, like what he did with mr Darcy in pride and Prejudice as well as being a badass action hero.
Bond Girl- Rachel Stirling
Diana Rigg's daughter is beautiful, good actress and quite comedic as well.
M- Paul Mcgann- The 8th doctor can do serious, and is fun to watch.
Q- Laurence Fox- Was in ITV's Morse spin-off, Lewis. Talented actor from the Fox family
Villain- Tim Curry- Can do camp and serious. Watch Annie and Home alone 2.
Henchman- Gerard Butler- Enough said
Moneypenny- Karen Gillian- Her banter with matt Smith in Dr Who reminded me of Bond's relationship with her. She also can do action, being in Guardians of the galaxy
-Casino Royale, Ian Fleming
James Bond- Licence To Kill
Why would he be bad?

I do agree about grant though, I hadn't considered him before. BTW I didn't know Lewis Collins had been considered for the role. Had he gotten the rough edges knocked off him he could have taken to the role well. Fore those among us who don't know who Lewis Collins is, he was an actor & real life action man, member of 10 PARA. He's the one wearing the Maroon Beret (to which he was entitled)

Hoagy Carmichael
Wanted to be Lewis Collins ! ) sadly he died far too young.
I think Craig is a great Bond, but I don't see Firth being effective in the role at all. He just doesn't project the sense of danger or menance that I think you need to have a good Bond. Sure, he pulls off some pretty spiffy moves in the trailer for The Kingsman, but it comes as a surprise. I think you need a Bond that you can just look at and know "That's a guy not to be screwed with!"
+1 -{
Just wasn't suited for " Training Day" as he always played, decent, stand up
Guys, an Everyman character.
Yet with Training day, WOW ! He was amazing, a real bast*rd and someone
You wouldn't want to mess with. -{ ,
Films are as raw and gritty as they come !
I wasn't really surprised. There's something about Denzel that even when he's playing good guys he comes off as someone you don't want to mess with. I think he just exudes intelligence and confidence in a way that makes him always appear to be formidable. In fact, I have yet to see him play a character who is intended to be a bit of a dimwit or a milquetoast. Now if he can pull that off convincingly, then I'd be shocked and amazed!
In my life story.
Damn! I always wanted Denzel to play me! )
