Omega time.

The time has come for me to make a new watch purchase. Although they're personal items I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on which one i should get. First choice is the seamaster diver 300m. It's the new model so it doesn't have the wave feature on the dial. Second choice is the aqua terra. Both have been influenced by bond films however like I said, the diver is the new model so hasn't featured in any films although looking almost exactly the same. The watch will be worn almost every day so my immediate choice would be the diver, the aqua terra does force me to think. Thoughts guys?

Hmm - I would suggest to go and try them both on if you have not! Very different watches! Ive had both and if I had to choose one as my only watch then I would def go for the diver!!

You could also try and wait until the New Year and you will prob end up seeing leaked pics of what DC is wearing in Bond 24 (remember we knew he was wearing a PO in the PTS and AT pretty much as soon as shooting began)

Wonder if the Seamaster will return in Bond 24.

Not considered a Planet Ocean??? I love the 2500 series but starting to get sick of the sight of the newer ones, I think Omega are churning out far too many models in all their ranges and it kind of dilutes the appeal to me.

I have the ceramic diver and it is a good piece that transitions from my work (I wear a suit) to the weekend easily. I love the aqua terra and it's on my wish list. I think it is a more formal piece because of the lack of a numbered bezel.

So depends on how you will wear it.

Planet ocean is nice but I found it quite a thick watch due to the movement. So didn't think it would be as comfortable wearing everyday. Plus it is about a grand more expensive if I remember correctly.

Would be nice to see DC with the Ceramic Seamaster Pro! However he will prob be wearing a new PO.

The Darkside of the moon would be cool on a stealth mission or something! Im sure Omega have some trick up their sleeves though!!

Yeah the new PO can be a bit thick, the 2500 (original series) just seem more classic to me, I think the prices are slowly rising on them too on the used market. The new ones just don't look as cool in my opinion, leave me cold for some reason!!!

The AT had me mesmerised when I saw it in the shops however when I owned it in person it really did nothing for me

The Skyfall AT, with the blue dial, is one of the nicest looking 'sports' watches introduced over the last few years IMO. I also think the 38.5mm is better proportioned than the larger 41mm size.
I'm with Welshie on the 2500 equipped PO. Again, one of the nicer looking 'traditional' type divers' watches. The current version is a bit more 'bling' and looses some of the grace of the original, due to its chunkier case, thicker hands and applied numerals. The green lume on the original was also more potent when charged.
The Seamaster 300 in whatever guise, is an Omega classic now, with it's distinctive bracelet and bezel.

If patient the Seamasters can be had pretty damn cheap in minty condition since there is so many of them out there!! Old versions and ceramic!! Ive warmed to the ceramic version.

Two different, beautiful watches. I agree with the comments above, the ceramic Seamaster Pro in its (final?) form is a classic and would be my choice. I think it covers sporty, casual and formal and although I have an earlier blue version, it is still one of my favourite watches and is really comfortable.

But as Welshie has said, you can have another dozen opinions on here but you will only know the real answer when you go and try both on (more if you count the different colours!) and see which one calls to you most.

Agree with all above, go try them all on, thats part of the joy !

Personally, I prob class my PO as my go to watch... But love my AT, gets the most comments due to its changing face colour.

Its all down to personal view tho !!! Only issue with the PO is its too thick under cuffs / cufflinks, so if its a working watch bear that in mind ???

Forgot about this!!! Yes a great contender indeed, no bling and the vintage vibe too. Prob closest Bond would get to his old Sub again

    Added a pic for reference

Actually scrub my post - it does look quite bling in real life - I had not realised it had polished centre links

    Found this

    attachment.php?attachmentid=517056&stc=1&d=1406488945

Still would prefer to see it on Bond then the next model PO again, like the vintage style dial on this one

More pics, check out the crown at this angle:

The more I look at it the more I'm puzzled about the polished centre links on this one. Think it would have looked cooler brushed

That feedback was more than I was expecting! Thanks everyone! In answer to one question I already have a planet ocean otherwise that would be a contender. I fell in love with the diver back in the CR days when daniel Craig had his first outing as bond and since then it's always been the omega that catches my eye. It was the first 'real' watch I wanted which is the main attraction that keeps pulling me back. I prefer the bigger watch so the 41mm isn't an issue, what is an issue is when I have them both on my wrist and a bank balance doesn't cater for both of them! I really am stumped with this one! I'll be honest it feels like a head and heart situation! Head wants AT heart wants Diver.

Hmm so if your keeping the PO and you are after a second I guess the AT might make more sense for a dressier occasion.

Then again you should wear what the hell you want but I guess AT less sporty and maybe a diff option!

I guess you have tried both on numerous times???? I think this is the only way lol though Seamaster is of course quite a cheaper watch if finance factors into the equation

I'd go with your heart on this one. That's what I did. I had wanted a Seamaster Pro since the Brosnan days and it was just reinforced when DC wore the updated version in CR. I was torn between the QOS PO and the Seamaster Pro, but the Seamaster Pro was the first 'real' watch that I fell in love with, so I went for it. I have not regretted it one day since! I eventually want to get the PO as well, but I'm glad I went with my heart. Either way, you can't go wrong.

I have the 50 years PO from Skyfall, but now I wished I bought the AT. I am currently savingot the AT so I have a day watch and an evening wear watch.

I've spent a lot of time trying them on and looking at various pictures, even watching the films they feature in repeatedly. Given the classier look of the AT which I believe you have? Is it harder to wear every day and casually than the diver?

I own the Seamaster 300m Professional (ceramic bezel) for more than a year and I couldn’t be more happy with it . It is a beautiful looking watch and I wear it all the time. The bracelet does scratch easily though so if you can’t handle that, be very very careful with your watch. I think a watch should be worn and used and as such will show signs of wear, so I don’t mind.

If you do decide to go for the SMP, please go for the blue one and not the black one.

Over the years I have had the Seamaster Pro Co-Axial, Planet Ocean XL (both from CR) and the PO 42mm (QoS) and AT (SF)

I think my fave was the PO XL with rubber strap however the Seamaster Pro got the most comments due to its flashy bracelet. I also had my own DC Casino Royale moment where I was asked if it was a Rolex!!!!! Unfortunately though it was not asked by a Vesper lookalike but a bearded bloke :p

Do you or anyone have pictures of their AT and diver they could post? Just out of curiosity more than anything. There is something about that diver that is unique. It's one that I've always been keen on!

I was lucky enough earlier this year to be in a position to choose between the Planet Ocean Ceramic and a Rolex Explorer. Again head v heart. I tried on both and it was the PO which called to me the most and that's what I bought. I love it. But... Find myself still wanting the Explorer!!

Whichever you choose you're likely to still want (and find a reason for) the other too. It's a most illogical and expensive hobby!

    Good luck with your choice, I'm sure you'll be pleased with either. Enjoy the shopping!! -{

Yeah those pictures have made my decision nothing but harder! Lol I'm sure I'll justify getting both at some point. I'm leaning towards the diver now. It's the one I keep coming back too.
