Lana Wood had an affair with Sean Connery?

Just came across this small piece of trivia concerning Lana Wood (Pleny O'Toole in DAF)

Lana Wood wrote a best-selling memoir, Natalie, A Memoir by Her Sister, in 1984. The book was also an autobiography. Among the tidbits she revealed in the book was an off-the-set affair with Sean Connery during the filming of Diamonds Are Forever.

To me this is new information. I don't know if this was true, and I'm sure this kind of stuff happens a lot more. Just thought I'd share and maybe there are people here that know more about this.

My husband works for McFarland publishing. They publish academic works mostly on pop culture. One of their big "areas" is 1960's starlets. He travels a great deal to comic book and movie conventions. He was at a movie convention years ago and was sitting alone in the halls cafeteria and Lana Wood asked to sit next to him since she too was alone. Anyway she told him all about her affair with Connery while they filmed DAF. She told my husband that she had decided to break it off and was eaten alive with worry over how to do it. Then when she did he kind of blew her off and she realized that she was just another girl. Apparently this made her chuckle.

As a sidenote she said she met with Elvis many times when he was dating her sister and she thought he was a jerk.

Wow! Intresting story! Somehow I'm not suprised with Connery being like this though... Him being the symbol that he was (is), why not take advantage of it? However, he was married to Diane Cilento in that period if i'm not mistaken, right? I think she actually doubled as the swimmer for Kissy in YOLT. I do now start to wonder if he has had an affair with any of the other Bond girls as well...

Thanks for sharing that inside information, VM. Of course most of us are probably not surprised by this news, given Connery's sex symbol status at the time and his obviously cavalier attitude towards women. Too bad he was such a cad, at least to his wife, but he sure was a great Bond!

He was married to Cilento. They don't split up until 1973. God knows what condition their marriage was in.

He married Michelle Roquebraune in 1975

Great story! thanks! Lana Wood is probably the most memorable Bond girl with such a little screen time.

Rumour has it Connery has been a big womanizer until very late in his life, married or not married.

I'd say Connery could of had any woman on the planet if he'd wanted.
and from the sound of things, he did try. :))

True enough - except for my wife! Why would she want Connery when she had a gem like me? :D

:)) on another thread, a comment was made that Connery was out
Of shape for YOLT, so by DAF, he was older and out of shape and yet
    Still pulled Lana Wood. :))

Hell, Connery probably could have pulled the DAF version of Lana Wood by the time he did The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! :))

Well, I don't dislike it as some do, and ( as always) Connery is fantastic in it. {[]

I made the comment, but Connery out of shape is still better looking than most, so it's only natural that he pulled Lana Wood (or Natalie, or both). I never met him, but everyone who did, men and women, say that he oozes magnetism.

Despite it being altered heavily from the graphic novel to be a vehicle for Connery's fair well, I find it to still be a truly bizarre little piece of cinema. It holds my attention every time.

I do really like it. And the references to Bond are great, specially considering Connery's there. I haven't read the graphic novel though.

I don't remember the details of the movie except Mr. Hyde, Captain Nemo and his cool car. The graphic novels used more of the literary Bond mythos, for example, an immediate ancestor of his being in the leadership of the Secret Service and having come from Bond Street (if memory serves), which was alluded to in OHMSS by the college of arms (though Bond doesn't agree). Then, there's a lecherous Bond in his original 1950's setting. The Alan Quartermaine character in the graphic novels is also shown in a young version and he more resembles Peter O'Toole than Connery.

St John dated both Connery & Lazenby........

Connery prolly got it on with Andress and Auger also.........could've sworn Laz had a short fling with Streisand as well or so I've heard. Then later Brolin became "Mr Streisand"
