Currently reading a Dirk Pitt Novel By CLive Cussler.
First time reading them and he reminded me of Bond. anyone else read them? agree that Cussler could pull of a Bond Novel?

I've read many of his books and really enjoy them. He couldn't
Do any worse that some they've got to write them. ;)

Of course, Brian Shaw in Cussler's NIGHT PROBE! is James Bond.

Every piece of background history dropped indicates its Bond as does his working environment.

Indeed, Cussler in interview said he wrote the character as Bond and intended to use the name James Bond in the novel: Glidrose - rightly - told him to go away and fornicate, so Bond was renamed Shaw.

Ripping off someone else's creation for your own financial gain irks me somewhat.

I do remember reading that the Fleming estate would have let
Them use the name James Bond ( for a fee, obviously) .
I have read night probe, found it in a used book shop on holiday
In Portugal. Yes on holiday Bond has fights, adventure and shagging.
I sit by a pool and read books ! :))

Oh ! Ticked , I read it as Licked. :))
It's odd though that none of the films made from his books have
Been very good ( perhaps Raise the Titanic, is the exception)

Sahara the book is fantastic ( well I enjoyed it ) the film only has
About 30% of the story in the book.
Raise the Titanic is good but it feels more like , a big TV special
Although it has a great score by John Barry. On making the film
And it's high cost Sir Lew Grade ( the producer) said .......
" It would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic !" :D
