Re: New project - the ring - SPECTRE

BTW, I titled the thread with all considerations - I want it just to be the ring period - made for Bond fans by Bond fan - nothing else - I did not spoil anything for anyone  ajb007/mad
looks like someone want to mark me - I see some laser spots on my chest now
and also links to other rings being made - yes, please go buy from those guys on etsy as mine are not for public sale

It's nice Matt, but unfortunately made by the worlds biggest bellend.

Plus it's a rip off if you ask me. Sorry, not in a positive frame of mind round now as everytime I see that w@nkers name, my piss turns to super-duper-heated high pressure steam.

Re: New project - the ring - SPECTRE

SPOILER - SPECTRE - SPOILER (Mods - we need a smiley for Bell End)

If we assume that the ring is worn on the Middle finger of the right hand, my finger circumference is 80mm, this equates to a U.S. Size 17, is anybody going to do the rings in this size, I know my hands are big but they're not freakish big and you know what they say ..... Big hands ......... Large gloves

Looks very naff indeed!!!  Sure any AJB member knows without saying that the props made by members here will be far more accurate via dedication and hard work!

I've only seen 1 pic of the real deal, I didn't think that copy in the link was half bad ajb007/lol maybe I'm not looking close enough. For 60 odd quid I didn't think it was too bad.

I do know for sure though that Kan gets stuff bang on, his tears of Allah is one of my favourite pieces in my collection that I haven't made.

Help me out welshy, what's the naff bits about the $99 attempt?

Re: New project - the ring - SPECTRE

Well I'm no expert like you guys but the thing that stood out to me instantly was the octopus engraving did not look to have any depth to it compared to the trailer where DC hands over the ring where it really looks etched in.  Looked more painted on which I thought might be more of a photoshop mock up rather then the real thing (which people seem to do nowadays to get sales flowing before anythings actually manufactured)  It looks totally flat

Maybe naff was harsh but it does not look right to me

Re: New project - the ring - SPECTRE

For what it's worth, I am looking forward to what Kan can do!  Not to mention supporting the artistic work of fellow board members etc....I do have the above ring in the link above (Larson) and it is laser etched, not printed, but the octopus is not very accurate...can't speak to the shape of the ring as I have not been privy to the screen used one.

I agree with Welshboy78, the proper ring looks etched.  ajb007/smile

Re: New project - the ring - SPECTRE

The octo on the real deal looks far more sinister to me, sounds daft I know but amazing what a slightly diff shape can portray...

Ok now I see where you're coming from.

The $99 version is too wide, shiny not matt and the engraving isn't deep enough.

Still, I didn't think it was too bad.

Re: New project - the ring - SPECTRE

I decided I will give it a shot - it was kind of a way to spend my break in between studying because it took me around 15-20 minutes to make, so it's definitely not the most accurate version - but I believe I made it already more accurate then those guys selling the rings. I will upload a vector version on Box and provide a link for downloading later. ajb007/smile

Re: New project - the ring - SPECTRE

Considering how easy it is to subcontract laser engraving at local jewelers.. All that is needed is a good rendering of the octopus to provide for the engraver..  7mm wide brushed steel rings are cheap..  This would be an easy DIY project..

Re: New project - the ring - SPECTRE

I also tried to create a vectorized version of the Spectre logo.
Since we only have a single screenshot from the trailer until now, I think it will also not be 100 percent accurate.
Maybe it's worth to wait until we have more pictures.
