WIP - Goldeneye camera aka Pyser SGI Pysis NV monocular

Hi guys n gals,

Hopefully coming soon is this little rare gem; the Pysis Night Vision monocular as seen in my favourite Bond film, Goldeneye.

Used by Bond to snap naughty admiral squeezing Miss Onatopp boarding the good ship Manticore, this little prop has eluded many a Bond fan for years. I personally have been looking for a few years and only seen 2 come up for sale, and out of all you (best Mathis voice) lovely people on AJB I know of only 3 who have the genuine article, and only 1 has the correct lens on (thanks to me ID'ing that as well).

So, can't find it? Make it!

Apologies for the crudity of this mockup, this is not the finished article as there's a lot more filling and sanding to be done yet.

Mods, feel free to delete the other 'WIP' thread.

Cheers guys,

Cheers C&D, someone did ask recently if there was any bought elements in the prop, ie how much is made as opposed bought.

Well, as usual, this one is completely scratch built using a genuine Pysis for reference.

    Well here's a little update.

I've done a first attempt, and while the fonts and digits etc all look great, my wobbly hand kinda made a right mess of it, so much so I very nearly didn't show this off.

Anyway, it's utter garbage (no, not after a sympathy vote) but here it is anyway, it hopefully gives an idea of things to come.

Oh and the lens backing looks terrible to due to 'clear' double sided tape actually being not so clear, complaint via ebay imminent X-(

Having met Jeff for the first time today to pick up a large part of a little project he's completed for me........just awaiting one more piece from another source and then photos will be incoming ....... All I can say is that his attention to detail is fantastic, as is his work ethic. If it's not right it doesn't go out the door. Anyone sitting on the fence for one of these, sit no more, just say yes. I have an original and having handled the prototype pieces today you honestly will not be able to tell them apart until you go to switch it on. Believe me, I take some impressing. {[]

Cheers Andy, I forgot to give you some instructions for that item, I'll email you some across...

As for the Pysis, I endeavour to have it as screen accurate as possible. Everything is a learning curve with new experiences and a lot of trial and error.

But that's all the fun is it not? Besides, if it's worth doing etc etc...

Yep looks really good to me as well and from personal experience I can let everyone who doesn't already know that Jeffs work is both creative and outstanding. He would probably be the last one to big up his own work but trying to create something from nothing is a tough ask which most of us would fail at. Sadly totally skint at the moment unless I would be the first to order one. Well done Jeff and looking forward to seeing what else is on your radar this year.

Thanks guys, the compliments are great and a huge lift, it's appreciated, your cheques with be in the post soon :)

Well I had a bit of an experiment with some subtle weathering to give a slight aged look.

    Yay/Nay?

Think the lenses are good to go now.

Well I've got the first batch of lenses ready for weathering....

From my POV ed that's a picturesque view of my future, but doesn't lens itself to what I'm focussed on in life, and after applying those letters I think I've had enough exposure to this kind of work, nice while it lasted but making lenses for me is just a.... flash... in the pan...... but i gave it my best... shot....

yeah I'll shutter up with the lens puns now.
