Hi all, thought I would place a post on here that didn't involve clothes (or specs, I think I got away with that one).
As with all Bond items I draw huge knowledge from the feedback on this site, and always grateful for it. The usual suspects are of course microjeff all round good guy and various others including Pete and Kan and many more. My latest topic that I would like to educate myself about is the wrist dart gun. My knowledge of this is miniscule but from experience a few on here will probably already have them. Just want some all round feedback really as to the things to look out for / what they should come with, whats usually missing, who has made cheap copies of them, should they be cased / are they numbered and anything else you can think of.
Looking forward to the feedback and probably pictures from members on a great site. Also, as no-one wanted my specs with replaced lenses and frames I shall keep them.

As far as I understand it, the best out there is the SD one, and mine has a brown wooden case with a cassette case that holds ten darts, 5 blue, 5 red, just as the prop you see on screen.
The oracle on this IMO is ed, or Pete.

This is my one. Had to dust the box off a bit before taking photos though. I got it a few years ago. The strap is still sealed in its original packaging and therefore, it's never been assembled together. This posed a problem displaying it on the plinth, as the pins on the plinth are intended to display it in its assembled state. I decided to take advantage of the fact it hadn't been assembled and utilise the space (if possible to display the wrist dart unit, the strap AND the darts in their case - something which can't normally be done. I did this by cutting a thin sheet of perspex, then making holes so the perspex would fit over the mounting pins in the plinth. I then added extra holse to the perspex to enable small strands of wire to be wrapped round the items intended for display. It's completely reversible so that if any time in the future the wrist dart unit needs to be displayed as originally intended, it can be
The dart case was cracked when I got the set and it was on my "to do list" to find a suitable replacement - but I haven't as yet got round to doing that. The darts themselves were also devoid of the blue or red marking tape, so that was duly added to be complete

Utilized an original Seiko 70s strap...
I have photos of that Dartgun and will soon edit this post to include the photos.
They were first sold inside the usual wooden case with the 007 etched on its glass top with the cassette tape fitted with the 10 darts.
These cases Steve used are just standard wood cases sold at a local trophy shop that he took and had the 007 logo etched unto the glass.
He later sold the Wrist Dartgun mounted on a plain wooden plaque to save on the cost of the boxes. You will sometimes see the darts with the gray tips instead of he correct black tips only because that's what was available for him to use at the time.
I did make a few of the wooden boxes (see Jeff's post) with the foam insert to duplicate the look of the version seen in the film.
Some time ago I gave several photos, measurements and even a blueprint to someone for the purpose of us producing some replicas to offer. Unfortunately, this person went on to produce them himself and caused quite the ruckus both here and over on the Replica Prop Forum to the extent of being banned as well as having our own Jeff kicked off the board. As for Jeff and I...WE kNOw who that person was and chose not to associate with him.
He still sells replicas made from the blueprints I provided and improved the usage a bit in that it is capable of producing a simulated "Firing" sequence by having a glow-plug (located on its display stand) igniting flash paper inserted into the barrel.

I don't want to turn this thread into a political soapbox, but have a few points I'd like to make, especially if anyone from the mod team at theRPF are watching...
This guy ed refers to seemed ok at the outset, but as ed says, had a habit of tricking people out of info and assistance.
My own personal experience was being conned out of help for a prop only to have my own version publicly slated by the guy in order to gain himself sales. The totally moronic situation was made worse by the fact that I wasn't (and still don't plan on) selling my version, so the bad mouthing and inaccurate claims about my work were totally unnecessary. Anyway, I tried to defend myself on RPF and as I was a new member there I was promptly banned, shame but there you go, lesson learnt.
As for the guy's work, he's actually quite ok. I don't think of myself as some kind of oracle of props, or the most accurate of what I do, nor some kind of deity that should receive preferential treatment.
But there again, I've never bad mouthed anyone else who enjoys making replica stuff, least of all in order to secure a sale.
Some say I'm too guarded, but this kinda situation makes me think otherwise.
