More Spying in Bond Games

I've enjoyed the James Bond games, particularly EoN but I'm a little disappointed by the fact that 007 never does any real spying. I'd like to see a level or two in a game in which Bond has to acquire information, break into a safe, listen to a conversation, plant a tracking device on a vehicle and follow that vehicle,
without being caught. let's add a level of stratgey to these games. EoN has a hint of this in the Simple Exchange mission. I'd like to see a mission or two within a game in which Bond has to acquire some intelligence, escape without setting off an alarm. Bond is a spy. Let him spy.

I agree. In many of the movies, Bond is a sort of detective, and I'd like to see that aspect in the games. Do I want it to be like Splinter Cell? Not at all. I want it to be like a Bond movie, where Bond walks into a heavily guarded area, makes a distraction somewhere, and quickly grabs the info he needs before getting out of there. I'd like the player to be able to decide what distraction to make, as it could be too linear, and that would be bad.

Gotta agree. Raise the suspense in future Bond games and lower the mind-numbing, repetitive shooting.

Games like Splinter Cell make my stomach churn because the excitement is there for getting caught. Bond should be more like that. I'd love to see gadget-less pursuits and fleeing from bad guys with only your wits to get you out of jams, ala OHMSS.

Well said, more stealth. And those awsome take downs when the guy isn't looking.

Yeah, we need more actual spying. Stuff like the level in TWINE where you have to avoid being seen by the Cameras, Gabor, guards, AND Davidov. That had my pulse pounding the first time I played it. Darn hard level though.

Oh yeah Needs, that one was a right pain!

I agree more spying would be good. Also more stealth stuff would be good. In one of the games, forget which one, you had a sniper rifle with infrared scope and you had to take out some border guards before Q would meet you and give you a car. I liked that part of the game, it was night you could kill the guards without them knowing you were out there, sneak around a little. Fun stuff.

Sounds a bit like the begninning of NF. Nonetheless, gimme some infrared scopes and some place to hide. Then the game will be fun. (and look like the Vietcong in the Korean War.

    PC NF or Console NF?
  • 00640064 Somewhere out west...Posts: 1,083MI6 Agent
console, when you are shooting cars, not guys.

Right, I thought so but he said guys and the sniper didn't have infrared vision, plus they weren't border guards they were terrorists.

Sorry, big NF fan here so I'm likely to nitpick.

None taken. Everyone knows what to expect, I know I can be a pain and a nuisance and I think I've gone without posting about AVTAK in 20 minutes! A NEW RECORD!

I'm 100% sure this is a level from the PS1 game Tomorrow Never Dies.

Good job Night, you are right, it was TND. It was PS 1, but I still liked it. Thanks for the good memory.

That reminds me, Barry. I thought the skiing levels in that game were fun. Why don't they bring back skiing in a Bond game? Bond skis A LOT.

In TWINE the video game he does, at least on N64.

Yes the Bond games of late have been a little light on the spying side, in fact the only mission of this type in From Russia With Love is the second part of the underground mission were Bond steals the blueprints for the Russian consulate.
Hopefully in the forecoming Casino Royale game they will have some spying type objectives in most if not all the levels .

I totaly agree all Bond seems to do in most games is go about and shooting countless baddies all on his own with out achieving much and some how completes the mission without doing much apart from lowering the population by half nothing like the films.

I think that the next Bond game (CR or whatever) not necessarily needs to be in FPS, more like EON or FRWL, to make him more spy - not as in FRWL and search for "money" to buy stuff. I'm more in like Metal Gear... a lot of action, but can be avoided. Not Stealth, Spy. need to be seen some times, fake a contact, disguise as someone (but getting the disguise first...

Skying only if is needed. a Sniping mission and gun with a silencer. or how about a mission in which you can't shoot (there was one or two in EON)

but i was thinking in a more difficult level, with more objectives (what was it by the way?)

Yeah a level were you have disguise Bond as an enemy to uncover some information would be cool.
I really liked the second part of Istanbul part 2 in From Russia With Love, were Bond and Kerim Bey dress as Russians and sneak into the embassay to get acess to the boat, now imgaine doing that only now you have get information from a safe and you have only a short amount of time to do it.

I think a level like that would be great.

the only thing is that in the movies Bond doesn't use that many disguises. he imitates other people quite a lot but he doesn't normally change what he is wearing to do so.

I want a Bond game thats a mixture of Hitman: Blood Money, Metal Gear Solid, and EON with a NF style Multiplayer.

and thave the levels big like in Metal Gear Solid or Hitman so their less linear. where you start at one point inthe level and have to have an objective finished. and then you can do it how you want. I don't think an entirely free roam Bond Game would work, but one with aspects of it would be good.

It may sound absurd, but Metal Gear is probably the best Bond game i've ever played (ok, not entirely Bond, but you get the picture) the problem is that if you analyse it, Metal Gear is almos one level, i mean, one day, one place, but Bond has to go everywhere... that is what make it difficult to be more like Snake.

(and snake is the son of Big Boss, who happen to be Connery with an eye patch.
