Im afraid thats the prob with most of the posh designers these days, quality has changed dramatically over the years. I am strictly guessing that they are constructed overseas or skimping on quality materials and supervision. The Brand simply sells!!
Take Sunspel - (dont class this as a top top designer but its an example). Some of the stuff ive had through the post has been horrendous. I own a CR era Polo and its way better then the recent version since the shirt is now no longer made in England. I notice since I last complained the shirts have improved somewhat (I also hand picked when over in London) but last year I had 3 shocking polos from their mail order service.
Tom Ford is outrageously expensive but wow is that stuff quality, I have two TF Polos and they are constructed pretty awesome, top notch material and after numerous numerous washes over the last 12 months look brand new still however for that money they damn should be!!!!!!
