There’s no doubt that men can be in great shape and still look good well into their 40s (and beyond). Daniel Craig just doesn’t appear to be one of those men. I recently saw a picture of Pierce - 15 years older than DC - and they could pass being as about the same age. The effects caused by years of hard living (coupled with natural aging) can't simply be reversed by six months of diet and exercise. That said, if he gives it his all, I think he can still look passable in the role. And if his performcane is strong, it can make up for the rest. Those are all open questions at this point.
Where do we get the hard living idea from? I'm pretty sure his wife follows a healthy lifestyle and knowing wives I don't think she'd sit back at home with her organic health smoothie and just let her husband chain smoke, eat whatever he wants and hit the booze.

Craig was a smoker for many years until Casino Royale when he quit so that he would be able to at least run a certain number of miles.
There are numerous publicity stills of him smoking in QoS but I don't know about the rest.

Honestly, I think he's only human and like many of us, doesn't look pristine all the time (some less than others like Pierce).
He will certainly try to stay in shape until it's time like Skyfall (when even then he had trouble keeping up with the training) but it's still a wait-and-see situation.
I think acting-wise Craig will pull his weight, I mean he was great in SPECTRE. I see no reason why he would be the same if not better in 25. Sure, he may be a little rusty, passing acting for so long but he will eventually come through.
    a reasonable rate of return

DC is a professional. He has always been in great shape for the roll.

Look at this photo from Skyfall and tell me that he doesn't look the part physically.

I think he’ll be just fine.

A lot of it has to do with the picture. Remember that scene in CR where Bond and Vesper are in the back of the car reading the mission briefing? Am I not the only one who thinks he looks all bloated and sweaty in that scene? And that was 12 years ago...

They say the camera never lies, but infact many pictures can be very deceiving, bad angles, unflattering light etc, I'm sure we all remember the double chin picture from the sp announcement that made him look awful but was just a still of him laughing.
Just look back at photos in this thread of him recently, we have the cream br jeans one where everyone says he looks to have put weight on then we have the one of him in the blue shoulder detail jumper where he looks in shape.
Honestly for all we know the guy had flu just prior to the latest picture.
I still say though that the buzz cut does not suit his face.... At all, SkyFall is about as short as dc should go.

He's been in Othello, made kings and Lucky Logan since Sp so his acting skills should be OK. :D

    Exactly!
I thought I was the only one to have noticed that. He looked tired in that scene but for all we know it could've been a messed up schedule and bad makeup.

I think he’ll turn up physically ready and will play the role well. The real question is will he have a great script and story to work with.
    Yes. Considerably!

I think I'm one of the few who thinks Craig looked his best in skyfall, even with the divisive haircut. His jawline looked like it could slice steel.

His face! And neck. He’s got the look of someone who does some serious drinking and cigarette smoking.

This forum is one of the few places on earth where suggesting that Daniel Craig might be past it is controversial. That said, he might get himself into great shape and with a little Hollywood magic, turn back the clock. I’m merely suggesting some concern that it might not work out this time around.

I think he was by far the most in shape for Skyfall. Sure he was puffier in CR and smaller in QOS but the man was perfect in SF IMO

He is probably cutting the top that short so that the hair plugs will be the same length as the rest of his hair.

You really think Craig would have or get hair plugs? Unlike Pierce and some of the other Bond's I've never heard anything about Craig getting work done on his hair. I don't think he cares too much about his hairline and he has the bone structure for it anyway.

There was a load of rubbish about Craig receding in Skyfall! Then hey guess what he grew his hair back and his hair line shows its barely changed!

Anyone see the Spielberg documentary on BBC last week. Had short interview with Daniel Craig in it wearing the Dunhill again.

I did, I liked the little moment when Craig discussed the nature of violence depicted in Munich and said "real life's not a James Bond movie" with a smirk.

To allude to your earlier point of men over 40 still being able to get in shape, of course they can ( Ryan Reynolds, Orlando Bloom, Hugh Jackman etc) it's only the much younger guys who think youve got one foot in the grave after 40. I'm fitter now than when I was in my 30's and I'm 42 tomorrow the one thing I do notice is how easy it is to pile on a few pounds though. Most male celebrities bulk up and train for a role, then once filming has ended they don't keep up the regime and return to enjoying life a bit more, I would say Dc is prone to weight gain these days, he's been promoting lucky Logan recently probably lots of eating out and drinking too much, he'll get in shape no doubt and a healthy diet will help with his appearance.

All the best Chris's have their birthday on the the 3/11 -{ Many happy returns for tomorrow mate,
Theres guys over 40 all over the place showing it can be done, look at Ben affleks recent journey, he looked terrible a couple of years ago in his late 30's, and since he landed Batman and pulled himself together after his marriage breakdown he's looking his best ever, Mark Wahlberg too even Henry cavill let's himself go abit after filming.
Mendes was said that while filming Bond dc lives like a Monk, he'll give it his all for his last.

Looking for a ROYALE Filmwear Talamone Shawl Collar Cardigan, size medium. Preferably in Europe, but the US would work as well. Feel free to send a PM!

I believe that picture was from a 2006 photo shoot for either Esquire or GQ. I can’t recall the brand, but Ralph Lauren seems to ring a bell for me. Someone here will know.

If memory serves me correctly it was Deisel and just part of the shoot
I stand corrected on this it was a Ralph Lauren Polo Double Breasted Wool Cardigan with Shawl Collar! I was confusing it with another old photo where he's wearing a diesel peacoat.
