Hi! Yes, that's the one I mentioned at the start of the post. This is another one of those situations where I, personally, don't feel comfortable sharing something that looks like a direct copy of the original. I would've probably included it if it didn't have that white stitching around the keyhole. But it does, and I think of that keyhole as sort of a unique Rogue Territory design detail (although Universal Works uses it as well). It's sort of like that arrow on one of the NTTD watch alternatives. Just a bridge too far for me.
I know I need to figure out a better way of "screening" alternatives, since most of the decisions to include or not include a copy can seem random and sometimes hypocritical (and I mostly make them based on a gut feeling more than anything else). Honestly, more power to anyone that wants something like that; I don't judge. I guess I would feel weird if someone were to ask me if my jacket was the Bond RgT and I had to either lie or try and explain it's a knockoff. But that's just me and I am very aware that some people don't see it the same way. Then there's the fact I've included replicas from Royale and Magnoli which are intentionally made to be direct copies (although to be fair, most of those original jackets, shirts, etc. aren't available anymore). When I did that interview with David a couple of years ago I brought that topic up when we were discussing replicas and how it was challenging for me to write about the Royale SF peacoat replisince the Billy Reid one is still available. So this back and forth is nothing new.
Anyway, I do need to come up with some kind of decision making framework before Daniel releases his version of the Matera jacket, since that's going to be a copy AND the original is still available. Any input from you fine folks here is always welcome!
I perfectly agree with you. I didn't know the criteria you use for the posts, but share them all.
@canoe2 I'm not sure where this will fall on the copycat spectrum.
A couple years ago Michael Stars came out with an unwaxed cotton-linen version of the supply jacket. I have both the sandstone color, which is lighter than the RgT supply jacket, and the green. It's more of a shirt jacket and much more appropriate for warmer climates than the RgT.
The deadstock shows up on Amazon and Ebay. Pricing and available sizes are always in flux.
In my opinion, and I may be in a minority here, you should include all options that are available - the original (if still available), replicas, 'knock-offs', closest match.
I think then people can make up their own mind which item to go for. As long as they're informed of all the facts (which you always do brilliantly), it's up to them which one they choose. I love your site and personally if searching for an impossible to find grail piece the closest to it was a company that had produced a replica or knock-off, I would like to be aware of it and would like to see it shown in the options you suggest. I'm not saying I would go for it but the comparison is interesting.
It's a bit paradoxical really as if a company (with no official links to the franchise or heritage) produces an item in the right spirit and enthusiasm of a Bond clothing item, perhaps one no longer available, it is lauded, praised and met largely with positivity. However, if a company produces an item extremely similar to one currently available but not making any reference to Bond, they are seen as knock-offs. I do agree wholeheartedly that the examples we've seen of the NTTD watch with broadarrow and the jacket with RGT style buttonhole are blatant 'copies' and I would personally never buy something which copies completely another company's design or IP. But it is still interesting to see all options available, from original to (legal) copy.
I say show all options available but include your opinion (it's your site and people are interested in and value your opinion), then they can make up their own minds.
I like that you have some standards in filtering rip-offs! You're doing great.

Noticed on ebay the is faux suede Hackett jacket which looks like it might be a good budget alternative for the Spectre Morocco jacket. Size medium
Ebay reference 114790296541
5 bids so far. Price is at £10.50 if anyone is interested in having a bid.
Found this alternative to the garage jacket over at Marks and Spencer....
I’m convinced there’s some Bond fans working for this company.
Funnily enough I saw that jacket in the flesh today and thought it wasn't a bad alternative to the RGT. Our M&S is pretty small but it does have a number of items that are definitely Bondian. Some nice jackets and polos.
Buck Mason has some polo, henley and cardigan options:
@Garyorange nice find! With your permission I'll include it in the next Budget Style Finds post with credit to you for the find.
@HalfMonk HalfHitman I really like Buck Mason stuff. I have a couple of tees and a henley from them. Good quality. The problem I have with sharing them as alternatives is the number of buttons they use. Personally, I like it. But some folks tell me "It doesn't have 3 buttons so it's not an accurate alternative". So I tend to stick closer to what we see Bond wearing. But if that doesn't bother, I would definitely recommend them!
Sorry about the delay, but I was rushing on Sunday morning to get things ready for Mother's Day and wasn't able to share this here. Two parter on Bond sunglasses.
Part 1 (published on Sunday)
And Part 2 (published this morning)
And I have been taking into consideration everything that's been said about the alternatives I include. Still mulling things over on that front.
More excellent work John😎👍️
I love that you did the AVTAK polarising glasses 😁😎
@emtiem Big chunky sunglasses are making a comeback! And I always want to give some respect to Sir Roger! 🍸️
New post is up: the most recent Best Budget Finds
@Garyorange , I included your M&S jacket suggestion, and the J.Crew blazer from @biesnacks . I also found a decent (and cheap!) alternative for Bond's NTTD swim shorts and solid K Racer option. Oh, and a great ball cap! The back strap isn't accurate, but I just ordered one to give it a try since the rest of it looks like a great match.
The mysterious NTTD baseball cap! We'll probably see it for all of 5 seconds in the film.
I've wondered if the back strap seeming wider isn't because he has his sunglasses strap under there. He wears the Croakies with his Vuarnets in other scenes....
First up: new post on Bond's safari jackets:
Some great alternatives this year at very affordable prices!
Second, Bond's NTTD swim shorts. I saw this pair in ad:
They're a used pair from Brunello Cucinelli on sale on Grailed (https://www.grailed.com/listings/21166051-brunello-cucinelli-double-side-zip-pocket-short-in-navy-and-white-90-nylon)
Obviously not the right color or length. But BC was using zippered pockets, which for me is one of the key features of Bond's shorts. So maybe they really are a pair from Cucinelli from the 2019 season? I haven't found a pair that matches exactly yet, but I'll keep looking.
Yup I thought the same things and posted those exact same shorts a few weeks ago.
great minds? :)
Sorry about that! How did miss you posting them?
Updated post: planning your James Bond themed poker night
A Casino Royale themed post seemed appropriate seeing as today is the anniversary of the passing of Chris Cornell. Right now I'm nose-to-the-grindstone getting the Bond Summer Shirt posts ready!
What do we think of these for No Time To Die combat trousers?
this might be also a good alternative for the Connolly Shirt, I would say that the Finamore-Shirt is a tad darker but it seems as it could work (55 % Linen, 45 % Cotton)
@Noi That is a good one! Even looks like it has the cutaway collar.
@Garyorange I haven't really started looking for the military cargo pants yet. So I can't really say how close those are. But I've bookmarked the link for future research!
Building on the Mango version they also have this one in their outlet
@Thomo Also a nice one! The pants also look like a decent color match for the CR Ted Bakers.
Post update: The Thundeball espadrilles
Don't know how you guys feel about the style, but I love wearing them in summer.
Another possible garage jacket alternative is the Levi’s chore jacket. I’ve got this one and also a couple of RGT supply jackets and they’re all great 👍
I think it’s called the Engineer Coat 2.0 in Harvest Gold colour.
The Real Deal
@ichaice that denim version does look killer!
Post update on the Bond inspired summer shirts!
Doing something a little different this time and breaking the huge selection down into 4 posts. The first one is for the solid color short sleeves, 2nd will be for the patterned short sleeves, 3rd for the summer weight long sleeves, and 4th for polos. I'll be publishing those over the next 2 weeks. Cheers everyone and enjoy your Sunday!
Hi everyone! Part 2 of our look at Bond summer shirts is now live
Patterned shirts this time, and there's a great alternative for the DAD Cuba shirt!
Also, I want to share this one I came across:
I don't know anything about New Chic (I checked on Trust Pilot and they get okay ratings). But that velour shirt in Beige (the green is shown above) would be a solid alternative for the DAF toweling polo and it only costs twenty bucks.
Well that was an expensive update for me 😂
@HalfMonk HalfHitman what did you get?
Also, in case no one has shared it yet, End Clothing has the Barbour Beacon on sale for just over $300
Still have sizes XS to large in stock.
