theres a Catherine OHara sketch from SCTV I really want to link to but cant find on youtube. thats OK, the whole season is on archive.org. the relevant sketch is in episode 7 and runs from 16:42 to 20:35
Eugene Levy delivers groceries to O'Hara, who doesn't have money to pay even though she's three weeks behind. Beginning each sentence with a Monroe-esque squeal she proposes "maybe theres some other way she can pay". after the commercial break, as Levy is leaving, Dave Thomas delivers the mail. O'Hara doesnt have money for the mail either, but despite Thomas assuring her "the mail is free ma'am" she nonetheless proposes "some other way she can pay" for the mail
Movie tie-ins…one adapted from a screenplay by Carry On/Man From UNCLE writer Norman Hudis (never heard of this film). Open Season is a terrific pulp novel and I’m still waiting to track the film down to watch.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
Does it say something about my lowbrow tastes that I prefer Rohmer to Greene? Lovely covers, it would be a pleasure being in a bookshop full of these and others.
Why didn't anyone write "Niece of Fu Manchu", "Brother-in-law of Fu Manchu", "Cousin twice removed of Fu Manchu", "Lawyer of Fu Manchu", "Dentist of Fu Manchu" " etc? Simply laziness I say! 😬
A movie tie-in - this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine…
And a pretty good book that was turned into an awful movie…
And an 8-book series about Penelope St John-Orsini, aka the Baroness. To the world a model, millionairess and international playgirl, but she’s really a super spy, and the deadliest of them all. Written by Paul Kenyon, a nom de plume for Donald Moffitt. This series from the mid-1970s was popular and a complete set was recently sold for £140.

Some cool covers there, CHB. I hadn't seen the FRWL one before, read "The Drowning Pool" many years ago while reading other Lew Archer stories, and have never heard of The Baroness.

Some interesting reads there…plus, like Barbel - I’d not seen that FRWL cover before either 🍸

I've not seen that US FRWL paperback cover before either. It's nice that it took some inspiration from the gun and rose Jonathan Cape first edition cover.

Westerns are not covered too much on this thread, so here are a few…
And some usual fare…
And one of the rarer movie tie-ins…
My next post on this thread will be after the holidays on 4th January.
I’m sure I’ve seen the film of this 🤔 I’m almost certain I borrowed it from Thunderpussy 😮
... and then gave it to @Number24, no doubt.
Loved the Westerns!
But I have no interest in TV repair at all. ☺️
I don’t think she did either 🤭

🤣🤣🤣
I never knew that Fu Manchu was once President of the United States. I can certainly think of worse candidates...
I think your tastes are fine, Barbel, I prefer Rohmer, too 🍻
I saw this book cover on Facebook and thought that it was suitable for inclusion in this thread. 🙂
Looks like a groundbreaking book on theology and sexual orientation. Facinating! 🙂
Yes, there's no doubt a course on it in an American university. It sounds very intellectual.
Absolutely. Those are very in-demand and topical themes to study.
Definitely, and sure to put you on the path to a very successful career...
Most acceptable 😁
I think that’s my autobiography 😬
It's definitely an original title for one! 😃
It’s always nice to see a Bond cover…
And more great covers…

Bond…Pulp…Karloff…Movie Tie-in…
I’m sure I have the first RL Stine book 🤔 and a full set of Bond US hardbacks…think I fancy a trip to Lust Camp ⛺️😁
I'm more sedate, it's "Mr & Mrs North Meet Murder" for me.
"why, that man on the couch ... he has a limp wrist! that explains eveything!"
🤣🤣
