I was thinking this looked like Wally Wood (MAD, Weird Science, etc) and went searching for more info ... turns out it is Wally Wood, and its the cover artwork for a spoken word record album adapting H G Wells!

Creature from the Black Lagoon - or one of the sequels? Does it matter? Godzilla, I assume, and is that first space one This Island Earth ? I like The Poppy is A Flower, looks like a poster for a proper movie not a TV film. I have never seen it and must track it down to fill in my 'Fleming Gap'.
@Barbel I don’t think it’s one of the Mars Attacks! trading cards, that artwork was by Wally Wood and Norman Saunders, the one above is by Don Marquez. I’m unsure of where it comes from, maybe Mars Needs Women (a 60’s movie)?
@caractacus potts I didn’t realise that came from an album, good research!
@chrisno1Poppy was released in the cinemas in the UK as DangerGrowsWild (which is where I first saw it in 1966). It’s not brilliant, but worth watching to recognise the vast cast involved in the production.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
@CoolHandBond it's not Mars Needs Women, their Martians were cheap and tacky and like something Ed Wood would have turned down. I bow to your artist knowledge though it certainly looks like Mars Attacks!

Bond…
Movie…
Sci-fi…
The movie is "Silent Running" and those others look like books I'd like to read sometime.
Yes, Silent Running is correct. Some of the covers are from the Perry Rhodan series.
Are those postcards?
Why? You wanna buy some…? ๐
I like the Dr. No one ๐
Not that I know of, some are calendar portraits and others book covers and magazine pictures, as far as I’m aware.
Today is the last pulp art post of the year…the thread will return on 2nd January, after the holidays.
The one and only Q…our dear Desmond…
Movies…some more instantly recognisable than others…
And Suzi says Merry Christmas, and she will be back in 2025 with increasingly lurid and smutty scenes (or at least until the mods tell me to stop!).
Some great movies there, CHB…the version of A Christmas Carol featuring Alistair Sim as Scrooge is my favourite.
Breakheart Pass - one you don't see too often
One of my favourites too, "An American Werewolf In London" and a guilty pleasure "Tarantula!"
Those three different styles of Bond are followed by some nice pin-ups…
๐ The 3rd Bond one and the 4th pin-up are my picks from the above.
Can’t argue too much with those choices, Barbel.
Bond…
Movies…
Girls in danger…

I love Jeff Marshall’s work ๐
The first two movies are two of my favourites ... in fact, I think I might watch one today.

The Poppy is Also a Flower is up on youtube
It's not Godzilla, Chris, that's The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.
The first Creature From The Black Lagoon is good, the others less so unless you want to spot a young Clint Eastwood.
No This Island Earth, that's one of the Mars Attacks! cards which pre-dated the movie of that name.

@Sir Miles There’s more Jeff Marshall to come.

Excellent movie choice, and that's a cool illustration for it.
The movie is Doctor Jekyll and Sister Hyde.
Pulp magazine covers…
And the Bond picture of the day…
Ooh, and an advertisement that probably wouldn’t be acceptable today…
I'd say definitely. Those mag covers, are they from the 40s? 50s?
Yes, mainly 40’s and 50’s.
