Silly Props

What are the silliest or strangest props you've owned or made?

I think my replicas of the urine beaker and Algernon's nasal inhaler from NSNA are up there (or down there)!

Stand by Your Man - Irina

    Everything or Nothing Records 1996

A deaf talent scout saw potential in Irina, and by the end of 1996 her debut album was released. Consisting of covers as well as original songs inspired by her own personal experiences, the album was a huge commercial flop. Tracklisting below:

    SIDE A

    1. Stand by Your Man *

    2. Lucky Me

    3. Charming, Sophisticated

    4. Shaken, But Not Stirred

    5. Raining in Baltimore +

    6. Valentin

    SIDE B

    1. Strangling the Cat

    2. His Mistress

    3. Very Talented Girl

    4. Memories ++

    5. Take A Hike

    * written by Billy Sherrill and Tammy Wynette

    + written by Counting Crows

++ written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Trevor Nunn

The album is extremely hard to find, due to poor sales, and this example here has undergone just five seconds of playback time - not adding to its value!

Cheers Ed. Remember to wear your Brosnan-endorsed ear plugs upon playback - just like he wore in that scene. He even made instructions on how to put 'em in:

Of course, tracks 'Raining in Baltimore' and 'Memories' are referenced in John Gardner's 1995 GoldenEye novelization.

Aww, it's not that silly is it? I mean it's nothing to sniff at, right? Who really nose.

T'isnt a silly prop, tis a genius prop! "On a raised dais at one end of the room, another young woman, very attractive and clad in red sequins, battled with "Raining in Baltimore' by Counting Crows, but . . . "

Do you remember the 70s band, "Shady Tree and the Acorns"?

PS. Where does one buy Irina's cassette?! Me want one!

You want silly...I'll give you silly!!!

    Radioactive lint

Yes, I admit I suggested it to Steve to offer it as a prop replica.

Hard to believe people actually bought lint from his clothes dryer in a plastic box.

What's that? You have one in your collection? That's Ok...so do I.

Bloody hell, that lint be glowing! No wonder Bond kept his distance from Q over the next couple films.

File this under 'unusual' - as it is to replicate crew property - but to help flesh out my walkie talkie collection I recreated one of the NTTD crew walkies. This is supervising stunt co-ordinator Olivier Schneider's piece. Actually, he carried at least two walkies with different labeling, as he worked on both units.

Labels show crew member's name as well as a list of departments numbered 1 through 16.

Now, if only I could replicate that pay packet.

A couple of cheap toy sets with wristwatches that fire bullets. On the left we have the 'Special Agent Secret Weapon' watches, and they pack a surprising punch when you fire the bullets. Also, there's the 'Advanced Weapon for Secret Agent' kit featuring a watch which holds the bullets on the bracelet like an ammo belt, water-squirting cigarette lighter and bullet-firing tobacco pipe - something every impressionable kid should have.

Not sure exactly how vintage these items are, but it's the artwork which always makes me laugh, with Roger Moore facsimile and classic detective aiming in the enemy's general direction - the projectile adjusting its own angle of fire upon expulsion.

Quentin, just bought the Digital "Secret Weapon" Watch and have total fun with it. Such a shame those Toys are no longer made.

@Xando Nice one, mate. The bullets fire pretty far. I once opened one up to see how the mechanism worked and it was a typical spring held back by a hooked lever.

They should've released toy versions of the watches from TND/TWINE/SP/NTTD that simply light up in same way they do in the film plus sound effect, but hey, that's not the reality we live in.

If Seiko would do nostalgic Re- Issues of those Moore Era- watches, w would buy them in a heartbeat.

My favourite Roleplay with the Secret weapon watch is that those bullets are poisonous and I have to assassinate Putin with them. It is so much fun working on the dialogue!
