Can you crack this Bond numerical code?

Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,238MI6 Agent
If you can guess it in the next few hours, PM me so the others can try to figure it out!

I'll post who got it right (assuming anyone's interested enough to play.)

Here goes:

6, 5, 7, 3, 2, 2.

Is it to do with the movies? It's such a massive subject it's hard to know where you're coming from.
  • Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,238MI6 Agent
Yes, it should have been posted in the James Bond Films forum.

I want to say it's TMWTGG based in the last two numbers being the same, but the Ts don't work, and I can't see how a mathematical progression would work... :#

As there's six numbers I'm guessing each number corresponds to a Bond actor perhaps.

The numbers do not relate to a name of anything.

What? If it’s not the name of anything (a noun), what else can it even be?? A date? ?:)

Is it the dyscalculia suffering countdown announcer from Diamonds ? ;)

    :)) :)) :))

It's not the safe-cracking code from OHMSS or YOLT, or Drax's safe code or lab keypad code in MR.

There are six numbers corresponding with six Bond actors. It's not related to the number of times they say "Bond, James Bond", but is it something along those lines? ?:)

Thanks for pitching in on this thread! {[]

It's not related to actors. It's not related to any particular film.

'Code' is putting it too strong, perhaps. You don't need to figure anything out like safe-cracking.

And I'm not the sharpest tool, so it won't be anything too complicated. :#

Okay, (John Lennon) here's another clue for y'all...

What do the numbers refer to? (It's not a mathematical quiz or anything like that.)

It's not about any film in particular, but the films in general. Over the years.

    It's about diminishing returns.

PM me first to let the others have a go! Answer posted this evening!

Diminishing returns? I was going to say is it the number of Bond movies per decade, but that doesn't fit.

Too vague for me, could be anything.
  • Napoleon PluralNapoleon Plural LondonPosts: 10,238MI6 Agent
I don't think it's too vague for you at all, emtiem. :D

Do you want to do those sums again? :o

No, he was like Colombus who discovered America but didn't know he had. Or EMI having the Beatles in for an audition and letting them go... :))

A fine glass of wine raised to you both this evening. -{ I'd also like to give a mention in dispatches to Sir Hilary who really gave it all in a PM and made me feel ashamed I'd made it too simple, all about the intervals between films, on the right tracks. {[]
Sorry about missing out CR 67 {:) but you can see why.

Did I get this wrong? Let's see:

1960s: Dr No, FRWL, GF, TB, YOLT, OHMSS: 6
1970s: Diamonds Are Forever, LALD, THWTGG, TSWLM, MR: 5
1980s: For Your Eyes Only, OP, NSNA, AVTAK, TLD, LTK: 7
    1990s: GoldenEye, TND, TWINE: 3
2000s: Die Another Day, CR, QoS: 3
    2010s: Spectre, SF: 2

I think that's it. Not sure what Charmed And D meant about the 2000s and DAD etc.

No matter how many times I count it, I see six films..?

    Your code above was: "6, 5, 7, 3, 2, 2" and yet you just said it was 6, 5, 7, 3, 3, 2

But well done, I was wondering who'd be the first to spot that...

Now, I have enjoyed a bottle of white Marlborough Sav Blanc but looking back on this thread and the last few posts, I've no bloody idea who is right and wrong.
Emtiem is the winner because he pointed out how I was wrong on the 1980s number and therefore Higgins loses by default as he didn't point it out!! :)) Perhaps Higgins was being nice because he mistakenly thought he'd offended me on another thread.

It's too much for a Friday night.

Ha! No worrries, you got half of the numbers right! :)

And it's always fun to play a bit of a quiz, we should do more! Thanks for starting the thread.

Here's a puzzler I've asked before: there's a famous movie star who has co-starred with three actors who played James Bond (in the Eon movies)- in which Bond movie did his current wife appear?

    Not so fast, emtiem.

Though you and Higgins have much to admire about you, emotional intelligence is not your strong suite.

The proper reaction to my thread is along the lines of X-( X-( :o :o :# :# :#

I mean have a look again. Six Bond films in the 1980s!
And in the last 10 years? A mere two!
We're being hard done by, that's for sure.
I mean, if NTTD and come in under the wire that would be one thing. But that's been pushed back.
    Hence 'diminishing returns'.
Still, we've got the old Bonds, whereas before there were less of em to look back on.

C & D got the right answer! Which is...
Shakira Caine, wife to Sir Michael (who appeared in The Man Who Would Be King and A Bridge Too Far with Sir Sean, Bullseye with Sir Roger and The Fourth Protocol with Brosnan) who appeared in the casino scenes of On Her Majesty's Secret Service :)

    Well done Charmed & Dangerous!
