Re: INTEREST THREAD - Daniel Craig Esquire jacket

I really love the Patterson Jacket that DC wears in the Esquire photo shoot:

I've been in talks with Logans Closet about a possible Vanson made replica.

If we can get a sizeable order together we can get Vanson to quickly make us a replica.

Dan has a special plaid lining that would be perfect for this project!

The jacket would be made in a waxy, smooth black cow similar to the original.

Anyone interested?

Price around $675.

Regards!

    Hi
If of any use I have the original Black Patterson if any details are required I should be able to assist.

I would hope the jacket would have a a better turn around time than Dan is known for.

Indeed - I would highly advise reading the Film Jackets forum before committing

Can't possibly imagine why anyone would take this project to Vanson. Be good to yourself and contact Bill Kelso - very high grade leathers with expert pattern design and replication. I'm tempted to send my Patterson there just to see what they can do with it. They also specialise in those 39s halfbelt styles.

I have one in brown and I would check it they could do it in black.

I know Bill Kelso is willing to make one if they have a jacket to copy from. I’m also chatting with another company to have a Patterson replica made but waiting on details. Price is more than a vanson order. This was a while back so not sure if Vanson are still open to it.

I know John/canoe2/IA had a replica Patterson project that was looking really good back in 2019, pre-covid. Even had a prototype jacket done up. Haven’t heard anything since then unfortunately.

There is a company called independence brothers which I am talking too. They said a replica wouldn't be an issue. It wouldn't have the plaid lining, just a plain one. But I found a lining like Belstaff's blue which I would simply replace it with.

I read that chat and he was saying it isnt known whether or not they could do a black one, perhaps only a brown one.

Not really a good replica to me : the buttons are too big and the halfbelt is way too high in the back.....

I concur. Their attention to the details seems a bit lacking on most things.

When I chatted with Andy at Bill Kelso, I was quoted at 770£ + shipping to have the jacket made. That was last summer so not sure if its changed.

Andy stressed having an actual jacket to copy from to gather all the details and leather type would be required. Someone would need to ship it to them at their Greece workshop. If someone is willing, please send an email to Bill Kelso through their site.

I would but I am on the other side of the pond. It would be better if someone that side sent one, less cost and less likely to have issues with shipping back and forward.

I know Ross has one that side maybe he would be willing to send it to them.

So I got with canoe2 and he said he was going to start moving the project he was on forward shortly and will post and an update.

His looks great and I don't really feel the need to try to catch up to where he is at on his if there is no need.

    We will see if his maker can replicate it in black (don't honestly see why not) and go from there. -{

Anyone have any updates to share on this? Eagerly awaiting some info!

  • nafets47nafets47 FloridaPosts: 939MI6 Agent

Would be the man you want to ask @canoe2

    Hey guys!

Quick updates on the Patterson project:

Yes, I am still trying to get things moving forward. The main problem is the jacket will be made at the company's own factory in Mexico and there are still some restriction regarding workplaces, import/export, etc.

I was happy with the sample I received, but there are a couple of tweaks I want to make. The jacket will be available in brown or black, but it won't be a pre-distressed leather. So the black will be "black" if you know what I mean. I went with brown just out of personal preference. I've had my sample for just over a year and it's softening up and breaking in nicely! It's a lighter weight leather (a full grain lambskin) so that helps. Here are a couple of quick photos.

All brass hardware, real horn buttons and YKK zips.

Hope to have more info soon, but I haven't forgotten about this!

    Cheers!

    John

Oh man thats looking pretty good! Can't wait to see more and see it in black as well! Can you post a pic of the back too?

Did you work from a sample jacket to get this?

  • nafets47nafets47 FloridaPosts: 939MI6 Agent

That looks great. I will probably get one in brown since I have a black patterson now.

Looks good......maybe the zipper of the front upper pocket is a bit big, except that, great work 👍️

Does anyone have updates on this? On either Canoe’s or Kelso’s? Like a lot of you I’ve been Jonesin for a Patterson but I don’t think it’s going to happen. I don’t love the look of Magnoli’s Patterson so I’m hoping someone else produced a good replica!

  • HarryCanyonHarryCanyon Posts: 165MI6 Agent

I ordered a Magnoli replica for their Black Friday sale (10%) off in black. Turnaround time is probably 5 more months. I'll report back on that once I receive it.

Looking forward to it! In a few threads, multiple people talked about sending in their genuine Patterson to Bill Kelso to replicate. I emailed Bill Kelso and they said nobody ever committed to doing that. Hoping someone sees this and is willing to send theirs in!

No one I reached out to ended up sending it. A lot of tire kickers but no action. One person here said they would and were sounding committed, but kept having things put it into the back burner and said it was in their storage and they had to go get it. Just never ended up happening.
