Big Chief Studios 1:6 Scale Collectables

Does anyone know if there are any new releases coming soon? They seem to have gone very quiet on this line which is a pity as their products are really good.

Ive heard little of nothing - have been a 1/6th collector for decades now... I was most wishing they'd have done a set of three for Skyfall with Bond and Silva in the clothing from the lodge scene.. and perhaps a Moneypenny from the pretitle sequence..

Blast Process recently did a preview of BCS upcoming Doctor Who figures and you can make out a Dalton and Craig tuxedo clad Bond in the background (could have been Red Grant I suppose). Dalton I have seen in the background before but not Craig so I’m really keeping my fingers crossed that they’re not done with the line.

    Background case, 15-minute mark.

So I think it is a Craig figure (rather than Red Grant - although this was hinted in their Easter egg dossier)

    Definitely a Timothy Dalton

One appears to be a Stan Laurel figure

Can't make out if either of the other 2 are bond related. I'd previously seen a Desmond Llewelyn head sculpt in a video but wonder if that's been scrapped now?

Yeah Laurel & Hardy were conformed some time back.... I just wish they had opted to do Craig in something other than a tux.... There's a proliferation of options in 1/6 for tuxedos to do a custom one easily...

TBH I’d love to get all 6 Bonds in Tuxedos and display around a casino table so I have no issue with this but also take your point that a bit of imagination would be welcome

So I received my Dr No and Connery Bond from Dr No today.

    1. Great sculpts

    2. The accessories and changes of hands with Dr No are few in number which is a shame, Connery comes with plenty of accoutrements.

    3. The PPK Box doesn't close properly

    4. The boxes and smaller and lack the clear plastic slip case as per the Goldfinger/LALD releases. The packaging just feels cheaper which is a shame and no doubt due to cost saving but it shows.

    5. Dr No's hands are a single mould. The prototype I believe had a sectioned hand. This solution just looks cheaper.

    6. The limited edition is only visible on the outer box not the certificate of authenticity.

    7. Included is a BCS catalogue/brochure. No mention of Bond figures anywhere in it. Is this the end of the line?

Thanks for the review. So, has this set just been released then?

Seems like an ago ago since the photographs were released.

I got the Connery figure. There are so many things wrong with it that it’s going back. Floppy hands, no way to close/button the jacket so it flaps open, trouser stud doesn’t work so his trousers pop open, one sleeve is longer than the other, PPK box won’t close properly, . Crappy packaging internally broken just by the weight of the figure. And the right foot keeps popping off. Their customer service tells me that it may be quite a while for me to get a replacement as they are too busy shipping out orders. So I’ll save them the bother of shipping out another for me by just getting a refund. Shame as the tailoring and sculpt are really quite good, but the execution is far from what you’d expect at this price level. PopToys and others do it far better. And you get leather, laced shoes with them too. These are just all plastic sculpts and no socks at all.

Anything new from Big Chief Studio's?

It feels like it been ages since released more action figures from the James Bond series. Hope that the Pandemic did not mess up their plans to release new products like it for a number of other companies.

I remember them having a stall at Pinewood a few years ago and seeing a prototype head sculpt of Robert Shaw, so have been eagerly awaiting this figure since then. As you say not been any news for some time from them.

They let the license run out as they discovered the line just wasn't profitable.

@PoorMansJB: Sorry to hear that, even though I was not collecting them it was nice to see action figures from the series being produced again especially from a few movies that Sideshow toys did not cover when they had the license. Did Big Chief ever release the planned action figures of Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig?
