Bit of an eventful month for me replacing watches I've previously had and sold.

Judging by other watch forums the older Omega watches appear to be more in demand and prices keep going up and up.

The PO 2500 series is getting harder to find in good condition as the years go by and seen by some as "vintage" / "Classic" as much as that sounds crazy!

Anyhow I managed to track down two very mint examples of the CR Seamaster and PO before things get more out of hand!! Ive noticed that the Co-Axial Seamaster is getting harder to source for whatever reason compared to the Brosnan which of course is everywhere and must of sold shedloads over the many years it was available.

Also managed to grab a nice example of the SPECTRE / NTTD Aqua Terra. This larger version seems more balanced on my sized wrist - the case of the Skyfall was far too high / chunky for such a small watch for my taste. Of course the trade off is no date window surround which is a lovely touch on the Skyfall version as well as the fully brushed bracelet.

Just need to find a minty SPECTRE Seamaster now!!!

Something a bit different, for the Roger Moore fans out there ๐Ÿธ๏ธ

Ah you got one of those; it was based on one from a video game wasn't it?

I've long wanted someone to do a reissue of the G757, or even just a close homage. I know they're still out there but the prices are so high that I wouldn't want to ever wear it as digitals aren't always as hard-wearing as analogues.

  • Boothroyd89Boothroyd89 Posts: 64MI6 Agent

Indeed - It was a limited run back in 2015 with the release of Metal Gear Solid. Never played any of the MG-games, but the G757 is my all time favourite Seiko. And like you said, the originals are out there but I wouldn't spend Seamaster money on a near 40 year old digital watch, that wasn't even meant to last that long in the first place.

I missed out on the original release of the AGAM 601, and they are by no means cheap on the second hand market, even thou there are plenty on ebay that's being sold as NOS. However I was lucky to find one in Europe and we negoatiated a "fair" price.

Although if you're looking for a homage then I would recommend the Casio World Time AE-1200WH. It's a cheap Casio but a decent watch for $30-40 new from Amazon. 100m WR as well, and bare a striking resemblance to the G757

Thank you yes, I do have one of those Casios and it's a lot of fun and does mostly scratch the itch, but I would love a more accurate G757. I'm almost surprised there isn't a Chinese knockoff/homage of it.

I'd love the 007 Store to licence the shape from Seiko and do a 007 run of them in collaboration with a manufacturer- up until NTTD I think it was probably the watch which was most recognisable as 'Bond's watch' and no-one else's. I'm sure they could even fit the little red LED for real! ๐Ÿ˜

Closest I have got my hands on of the watch that Sean Connery wore in Dr No and you only live twice. A lovely Gruen 510 precision with Egyptian numbers 3,6,9 & 12, but doesn't have the second dial above the 6.

  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,483MI6 Agent

We are pretty certain it would more likely have been a Smiths and not a Gruen. The Gruen myth was started by someone who was just guessing based upon his knowledge of the US market at the time. Gruen wasn’t a brand known in the U.K. but the Smiths watch was more prevalent and was very popular.

Yeah there are no clear images to actually confirm unfortunately, but your idea definitely stands up. The theory that it was from Sean's own collection doesn't help if that was true either.

I'm sure lots of investigation has gone into this by folks with keener eyes than me, but I wonder if it's the same watch he has on here; it looks similar to the brief glimpse in the film to me. It seems quite large for the time. If it is the same I guess it could well be his own.

Beautiful watch Higgybum. One of my grails. I have the Dan Henry 1972. Cheap imitation, I know, but I love it all the same and don't have to worry about damaging it.

Enjoy yours. I can see you already are๐Ÿ‘

Thanks Red Kind for your kind words! Finally someone who can appreciate those!

I can’t see my honeymoon with this particular piece to end.

I know the groundbreaking, revolutionary design since 50 years, always loved it and finally own one with modern surface treatment.

I’m not sure how I feel about this.

Generally not a fan of green watches, plus this is clearly a homage to something else…

    But… it does look good….

  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,483MI6 Agent

The green in real life is much nicer than any of the pictures show. I like the shade far more than the Subs. I didn’t think it would be something I’m interested in. But I’m quite tempted. It’s a pity they didn’t release the military SMP though.
