I heard the invitation for eagle-eyed inspection...

1.) The fabric is slightly thinner on the original and not quite as thick as the Royale.

2.) The front pockets have a sharper curve on the original and have a more rounded curve on the Royale. (See picture)

3.) The pockets are longer on the original and there is more fabric in the front compared to the Royale. (this could be because the original is simply a larger size and the sample is a smaller size though)

4.) The tic pattern looks more distinct on the original, without seeing the 2 pairs in person, I can only guess as lightening drastically plays a role in photos. Most likely the background fabric color (behind the tic pattern) is black on the originals and the background fabric color on the Royale pair is dark grey. Bear in mind, the color tag on the original actually say "black" Also the tic pattern itself could be a little lighter shade of grey on the originals to make it pop. (See picture)

5.) the tic pattern is all flowing the same direction on the Royale pair, but is changed up on the original pair (as is common practice in fashion) The tic pattern is sideways across the waist band, and across the slash pockets in the back. It flows the same direction on the belt loops though as it flows on the pants.

6.) The belt loops themselves have a couple issues on the Royale pair. They are skinner and possibly slightly longer on the original. Also they loop around the top on the original and are not stitched across the top like the Royale pair are. (a more common technique for denim)

7.) The waistband is also slightly taller on the Royale pair compared to the original.

8.) The stitch / thread that stitches the pants together is dark grey on the original and is black on the Royale pair.

If you need help with the inside as well, just let me know.

Has anyone purchased a pair from Daniel yet? I'd love to hear your feedback about sizing, fabric, general quality, etc.

I have, but they haven't arrived yet. I'm already accepting of the fact that I'll need to get it tailored. I normally wear US size 31 pants with a "tapered fit" to accommodate my thick thighs. With this in mind, I went with the size 34 as the half thigh measurement best fit my needs. My plan is to bring in the waist and to shorten the inseam, maybe taper whatever has to be done for the best fit. I'll let you know how it goes.

I also wear his version of the Ocean Club trousers in 34, I basically did the same with those.

Being in the same continent as Daniel, I’ve already received mine.

i would say they’re somewhere between great and very good.

Without having ever seen the originals first hand it’s a bit hard to say how they compare but I would guess the fabric is very close. It’s a fully synthetic fabric which is very soft, resembling wool (without the itchiness), and has a generous amount of stretch.

The fabric qualities and composition is quite untraditional but is a sensible choice for this style of skinnier trouser. I happen to think it looks and feels great.

It’s possible the overall pattern is a bit lighter than the originals (which is really highlighted in this pic) but I’m happy with the look these provide. I would be really interested to see a comparison with the original NB trousers. The next run probably should be slightly darker.

Sizing is a bit weird, go down one size from the ocean club trousers is my advice. I took a 38 in the ocean club trousers, tried on a 36 and 38 and could have gotten away with either but opted to take advantage of the skinnier look these offer.

Thank you for the report! Years ago, I found some trousers with a charcoal puppy tooth pattern which are fine—but not based on the Neal Barretts obviously. I'll probably go forward with the purchase as I have a lot of Royale items that I enjoy and I like to support Dan's efforts. But the Ocean Club trousers weren't my favorites of the pieces he's done so I've been more tentative.

Just got mine, they are FANTASTIC. Great stretch, great taper, and very comfortable.

Getting mine hemmed today. Can anyone fill me in on how the hem was on the original pair? Is it that hidden type of hem that a lot of dress pants have have and how they currently are?Looks great, but would love to make sure to tell the tailor how to do the hem specifically when they shorten them. Hard to see in the DC photos.

Do you mind my asking what size trousers you normally wear and what size you ordered in the Royales?

Of course no problem. Also, didn’t realize how many typos I had in my last post, apologies.

I tend to be around a 31ish waist. Since the size options were 30 or 32 I went with size 30 due to the stretch. Now upon receiving them, the actual waist does not have as much stretch as the legs though so keep that in mind. The rise is just slightly higher which I think is fantastic so the 30 works for me, slightly snug but works.

Size 32 could have worked also for me. I probably wouldn’t advise sizing down since there isnt as much play in the waist, probably a good thing. Stretchy waists always seem to backfire, comfortable at first and then just get stretched too much after wear, so im not complaining about the waist construction one bit. The legs have fantastic stretch though. All in all, they seem really great. Big fan of the material Daniel used. I personally think he absolutely nailed these.

Excellent, so pleased you like them. It's a hidden seam from what I can tell, with very light pick stitching, so in the busy-ness of the pattern you shouldn't notice it.

Thanks for your feedback Liam, yes the ocean club trousers ran small was the overall consensus, so I aimed to standardize this fit a bit more. I find trousers particularly difficult to pin down with sizing that works for most people or relatively in line with what most people expect.

Perfect, thank you! The tailor called it a “blind stitch.” No clue if thats the correct technical term or not but i do think you’re right in that the pattern will definitely help any disguise any stitching so it should work quite well. Really digging every aspect of these pants.

Greetings all, whilst scouring the internet for Bond ispo clothes and not being able to pull the trigger on the Royal Filmware trousers, I found these from Marks&Spencer.

I have just received my Enjoying Death Shirt from Daniel and love it, but Moneypenny wasn't having another purchase that with shipping, streatched the budget (no pun Intended)
