MI6 Coat of Arms

MrZarebaMrZareba Krakow, PolandPosts: 1,775MI6 Agent
Well, I guess this is a thing a lot of people were searching for on the internet (me for example in the past). So here it is: the MI6 Coat of Arms, as seen in "Casino Royale". Price:(made from the very beginning, I took the coat of arms seen on the CR website in small resolution for a background template, so it looks EXACTLY the same like in the movie [similar technique I used by making the new MI6 wallpaper]).

Yeah. Right about that... Firstly: the MI6 logos are not copyrighted material, Sony Pictures Entertainment has never published them or copyrighted them, secondly: if I had broken the rules, which I haven't, SiCo would react immediately, am I right? ;) [I'm not making these graphics since yesterday...]

God damn it, I'm a law school student and you want to talk with me what's legal, what's not? :D Some people are just looking for trolling, even on this site. What a world. Thank God some of the ajb007 members are appreciating my work.

    Right kiddy, before you start throwing rattles, understand these 2 things;

    1) I actually like your work

    2) I don't like all the arse covering rules myself, BUT as a member of ajb I accept and abide by them.

Si has probably not been in touch for various reasons, not because you're in the clear here.

Whether you like it or not, you're replicating an image seen in a bond film, which is copyrighted to eon/danjaq. Everything you see in a film remains the intellectual copyright of the films producers. It's for this reason we can't or shouldn't post screen grabs from films.

Yes you can argue you've drawn the artwork etc, but you've copied it from a bond film, and are selling it as a perfect copy, ie using the bond franchise to secure sales. Come on pal, you can't seriously think you can talk your way out of that, can you?

Ajb has had words with eon about things like this before, so I'm assuming any violation of the forums rules will be acted on, I could be wrong, and I don't wanna get my little feet in hot water, or bugger it up for all the other members, so I don't break rules.

I'm not trying to be Mr perfect, or start wars over this, all I was trying to do is point out you might wanna be a little careful.

Just because someone is an artist, doesn't make him a good painter today ^^. Anyway, maybe I will close this topic about the legal problem, there is no reason to argue here. But lets make it this way. If I would publish everything for free, no one would have a problem with it, right? Why other fans haven't spoken a single bad word in my direction? I have had a bad day, maybe that's why I'm so touchy, but lets make it this way: if you're not interested - don't talk, or at least don't talk something that could make the other person sad ;). I was never a type of a member here who was talking something that could harm another person, so I don't really understand your reasons. If I broke the rules: OK, but that's not your problem I guess, it's my problem and the forum moderators/administrators will eventually deal with it. As far as I know Mr DZ is a moderator here, so I don't think my work was, and will be a problem.

    Cheers.

Me pointing out you might be on thin ground wasn't me saying your work is crap, cos it isn't.

What I was doing was saying just be careful as I believe you to be breaking the rules. I neither want you or ajb in trouble, which is why I posted publicly, instead of a pm, so everyone can see my thoughts and either correct me or agree.

Like I've said before, we don't have to agree with rules in life, but it's probably best we follow at least some of them.

All right, I understand. I'm trying not to brake the rules in my life, I don't think I'm here a big rule braker, the fact is: firstly I do these things for ME, so they would be done anyway. After that I'm publishing them eventually here, because maybe someone would like to have the wallpaper used in the movie, theme on the phone used by Bond etc.. If one day ajb or EON will say "no more": well, no problem. But as I said, no one was raising concerns here since mid 2010 (I guess I published my first MI6 wallpaper back then here), so I don't think anyone will in the future :)

I guess if EON invented the «coat of arms» it's copyrighted, and if it's their real one, then I know for a fact that you have the right to use someone else's real coat of arms, at least in their country. I don't think you have the right to sell it.

I guess it'd be alright to just give it, but that's on you, because you did take the time to sell it.

Funny though how those who made the fake ties and JB credit cards were not questioned at all by the members here...

as for the logo iteself, i believe it made its first appearance on the floor in the PTS of TWINE. thats where I got my screen grab from, and what I drew my own artwork from. as far as I'm concerned, it is EoN's, full stop.

and yeah, its funny how some things have been made in the past and nothing said, yet others projects have been warned off. I dunno what happened behind the scenes to cause the sudden change that resulted in the rules being more enforced, but I guess something had to cause it, which is a shame.

i just hope no harm came to ajb, but seeing as we're all still here i guess everything is ok.

what i don't want to do or see is anything that could cause any damage to ajb. i enjoy chatting with you guys, and it'd be a shame to loose the forum.

Once again...excellent work...but...and this is said with heavy heart....

Please remove the picture...leave it as a linked image please...and also remove the part about charging for it...you cannot do that...you could charge an *admin fee*...but certainly not charge for it....and definitley NOT here on AJB....get people to PM you that are interested in it...thank you.

UPDATE: I decided to err on the side of caution and have removed the image...you can re-post a link to the image, just not the image itself...I've also removed the cost of the item...I suggest you re-word that section, and please bear in mind that you cannot directly charge for the item.

    I hope you understand.

Well. I guess you can charge for your process of sending the picture and the transaction handling, just can't say the actual image is the cost...

If it is based on MI6's real logo would it not be protected by Crown Copyright?

MI6 is in fact the 'Secret Intelligence Service' not the 'Security Service' as in the Bond movies. The 'Security Service' is in fact MI5. I guess the movie guys know how to avoid legal problems by doing this?

Not sure of the source of those logos, but I am curious if they have acknowledged the name SIS or Secret Intelligence Service in the movies?

I think the mail problem is really just the way it was formulated, it's like he sold the design. But he should've just said some kind of 5$ «administrative» fee and the file is free, and then it'd be alright. You have the right to reproduce something for yourself and get inspired by something and expose it.

That logo was designed specifically for the Bond films, so would belong to EON or Danjaq or one of their affiliates. The real SIS doesn't have a logo per se, the UK state coat of arms as used by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office covers that function.
