Preview picture of a project currently being produced, won’t go into to much detail at the moment, but it is being produced using accurate original source material and when completed will be printed as a 16pp Broadsheet newspaper on 55gsm newsprint. -{

    Gadget Meiser had a preview copy at the BondStars event at Pinewood a few weeks ago.

    He said you were using the "complete original" paper which I wondered about until it was brought to my attention that the newspaper in the film is not a purpose-printed prop as we're accustomed to but an actual newspaper with a different masthead and article [poorly] pasted on.

    That is most correct, The front cover will be identical to the actual printed version, adding in the appropriate article as used in the film. -{

    FINALLY some advanced copies of the reproduction newspaper have been received and approved, and I must say I am really pleased with the end result.

    I am expecting delivery of the extra copies on Monday for the AJB members who have kindly shown interest ...... ‘Thank You’ -{

    YOLT_HKS.jpg

    An insight into the making of this reproduction newspaper:
    Where the original prop had the article of Bond’s death pasted onto an actual copy of a published newspaper, this reproduction has been produced to appear as if that article is part of the newspaper.
    The front cover has been completely re-originated to match the printed text, line for line and using typefaces referenced from the 1960s, plus adding dents and knocks to the rules and type to give the authentic letterpress printed appearance.
    The image used of Sean Connery is identical to the one seen on screen and has been adjusted to match the other pictures in the newspaper: 45 line screen, round dot with a 45 degree angle.
    All other pages were scanned and to keep it authentic were not retouched.
    Some easter eggs have been placed on certain pages as an extra nod to the film.

    This project has been somewhat a blast from the past for me, taking me back 45 years to the days of my apprenticeship as a Hot Metal Compositor.

    Finally I would like to say a big ‘THANK YOU’ to Ed and Andy for all their help in this project .... Cheers Guys -{

    I recieved the pre run copy this week and I am sure Rob will not mind me printing an excerpt of the email I sent him. For any members that saw the front page prototype at the Bondstars event at Pinewood and were impressed, this final edition will blow your socks off.

    Dear Rob
    OK, now you’ve done it, I thought I was pretty good with paper Bond props, but my flabber is well and truly gasted. It is fair to say my jaw hit the floor. I have just read a 1966 Hong Kong newspaper straight of the press. You have my total and complete approval.

    Don’t sit on the fence, get this now, it is only a small run.
