Hi, I'd really like to have a copy of these! I've already listened to Goldfinger on YouTube which was marvelous. Thanks in advance! :)

Don't confuse me with the other DutchBondFan, but be sure to follow his YouTube account. You can read my articles on James Bond Nederland: www.jamesbond.nl/author/gosse/

Hi, like some others I have found this thread when searching for an Audiobook.

I have bought all of my Bond Audiobooks from Audible and the likes - but there are two I am missing - Licence to Kill and Goldeneye.

It looks like these two titles were only ever released on tape and I havent found a digital recording that sounds good:

Licence to Kill - Chivers Audio - David Rintoul

Goldeneye - Brilliance Audio - John Kenneth or Hodder & Stoughton Ltd - Samantha Bond

Before I get into the world of tape deck to digital anyone have any suggestions?

Happy to help anyone else out - this is what I have:

Are these still available? I was lucky enough to hear them years ago, but it seems that they've since vanished from the Internet. The handful of torrents I've been able to test all contain the Whitfield reading, so I tried searching for collector sites that might at least mention Rintoul's reading for posterity, but it's as if every trace of them has been scoured from existence (a mere taste of Big Tech's ability to "memory hole" things). Did Chivers put these out on CD? If so, then perhaps I can still get lossless copies through inter-library sharing. I'll PM Candyman just in case.

I am also desperate to have these Rintoul readings. They were the way I first experienced the novels when much younger. Any leads? Much appreciated!

I'm wondering whether anyone else here might still have a copy. No need to put all the burden on the OP, really. As for myself, I got distracted and forgot to check with my library. I'll make a note to do that, now. Maybe there's potential for a lossless CD rip.

These search results seem to indicate that a CD version is available: https://www.worldcat.org/search?q=Ian+Fleming+David+Rintoul

So, I've tried the usual search engines (e.g., DuckDuckGo), but pretty much nothing comes up. The best I got was when I typed in the ISBN for Casino Royale and it brought up a copy for sale on Amazon, with a mere photo of the slipcase rather then the digitized cover art from the ads. OK, so maybe the Chivers version is being downplayed in favor of newer releases. Surely the Wayback Machine will provide useful results, if I type in the ISBN... Nothing! I'm getting a little freaked out, here. I've felt the creeping hand of censorship frustrating my search results through the past few years, but this seems to be something new and heavy-handed. Things are very, very wrong with our world when a decades-old standard like the International Standard Book Number doesn't bring any results on the Internet.

As I mentioned already, finding out anything about the Chivers/Rintoul CDs has been a real bear. However, after scouring various online library resources, then using less-well-known search engines (e.g. Swiss Cows), I was finally able to piece together a fairly-comprehensive list. I just hope the board doesn't automatically condense the spacing....

"In 1986 Chivers Audio Books released the first complete set of James Bond audiobooks read by Scottish actor David Rintoul." -- https://jamesbond.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_James_Bond_Audiobooks

"Owned by BBC Worldwide, BBC Audiobooks was created by the amalgamation of BBC Radio Collection, Cover to Cover and Chivers Audio Books (Chivers Press) in 2001. BBC Audiobooks had bought Cover to Cover in 2000, a company which specialised in unabridged audio recordings and had been started by Helen Nicoll, the author of the Meg and Mog books, in 1983. Chivers Audio Books was one of the early commercial audiobook companies and among the first to employ professional actors for narration." -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AudioGO

"Chivers was a British audiobook company that started recording audiobooks in the USA under the Chivers Sound Library imprint in the late 1990s. Since then the company has undergone two name changes. First it was BBC Audiobooks America, and now it it Audio Go." -- https://www.sffaudio.com/features/chivers-audio-bbc-audiobooks-america-audio-go/

The Chivers CD versions with Rintoul were around 2008. The AudioGo CDs with various narrators were around 2012.

Well, that was frustrating. I got it all typed in and the code spaced perfectly, went to save a simple edit, and the post disappeared entirely. This time, I'm not going to bother manually spacing the coded section; and, as for my previous introduction to this post, which described all of the research I did in the past day to formulate this list, that's just plain gone. >:(

(And checking back the next day, the post showed up, so I've edited-out the redundant bulk of this repost.)

Should there be any interest in funding a purchase of the collection, note from the links that each book generally costs several dozen pounds. This might be workable if, say, each user interested sponsors one book. Otherwise, I'm going to continue with my long-term plan of slowly getting them brought to my local libraries, so that I can "archive" them.

Hopping on to input my interest as well in having these. If the OP is unable, could someone who does have a USB stick maybe get a Mega link or similar going? I'm happy to provide one myself if needed, if someone can get the files to me I can distribute them.
