It recently occurred to me that the early 1960s quirky pop band Freddie and the Dreamers, led by the jerky marionette almost Buddy Holly-like lead singer Freddie Garrity, was probably named after the daydreaming Freddie from My Fair Lady.
Freddie Garrity was born in 1936 but made out he was born in 1940 to appear younger. He died aged 69 in 2006 - so 20 years ago now.
When watching the news or reading history it can seem like the world is dark. But look at the long lost footage of US soldiers around the end of WWII rescuing Jews from a nazi death train. The background of the event is of course as dark as can be, but I see it as a reminder that there is hope even in darkness, and the US can be and has been in the past a force for good.
And well done Norway beating Brazil! Sadly, England were unable to prevail tonight after going down to 10 men so it looks like you'll be facing New Mexico on Saturday.

This new guy did a great job in the North West…yes, he’s charming. I mean an Everton fan, but charming nonetheless…😬
😁 I see what you did there... and I'll bounce it back later.
Rome is saved. As someone said. 😀
I thought you might 😁

I just put more wood in the stove, but I still feel sorry for the rest of Europe when I watch the weather on TV.

Congratulations to @Number24 on Norway's result in the footie last night.

Thank you very much. But unlike the millions of people who were shouting at their TV during the match I didn't contribute to the result at all. 😄
A beautiful and tranquil Japanese documentary on the McDonnell Douglas DC-8.
This woman found herself very inspired by Erling Braut Haaland's running style. 😁
Congratulations to the USA on your 250th!

I'don't know anything about football, but I feel we can take New Mexico! 😂
