In the song FRWL when Made Munroe sings " I fly to you " in the background there is an
odd noise, which to me sounds like an old cassette tape being rewound.
Has anyone else heard this ? Or is it just me. )

Yes its a bleed through of something that was recorded on the tape before that particular song was recorded.i read some where its that chap that did the live and let die soundtrack. Either his voice or something he did before barry used the tape .
The Harkit "extended soundtrack" is a waste of time and money. It is not extended (this is one of the cases where the master tapes haven't been located ie "lost") and you're far better off with the official 2003 remaster.
They are taking advantage of the muddy copyright laws and the so-called "50 year rule", and throwing in a few alternate versions readily available elsewhere. They did much the same with DN a couple of years ago.

It's George Martin talking to Johnnie Spence, who conducted the song. John Barry wasn't there. It was recorded by accident during a piano overdub.
