Me too - a big year for Thunderball and hoping it finally gets the restored release it always deserved. I’m greedy so a new soundtrack release would be good too.

Really liking the new 4K Connery set. I'm not rewatching them all the way through (I just did a full franchise rewatch earlier this year) but I'm spot checking a few of them. GORGEOUS.

I just got through all 6. They did a very good job on all 6. I was really impressed with Dr. No, especially given the age of the film. There were some fine details visible like the blood on Connery's knuckles after he fights the chauffeur. The multi-channel audio remix on Thunderball is much improved with the dialogue brought up in the mix and very clear. They also got rid of all the crappy replacement sound effects that plagued the old Blu Rays. I really appreciated that they went for getting the films to look as close as possible to what was originally projected in 35mm at the cinema and not looking like a video game. No DNR, no film grain removal, etc.

Just a heads-up for those who prefer not purchasing the box sets, the 6 Connery films on 4K Blu Ray will be available individually in September. The new individual 4K Blu Ray box art actually looks pretty cool (better than the steelbooks IMO).

Yeah lots of people complained about it, but I think the art is very cool, as you say. It represents the period each film came out well, whilst still looking quite contemporary and part of a series. It's quite Pop Art in a way.

Thanks. Is there a link to the art work of those discs being released in September?

As much as I think the box art for the individual 4K Blu Rays is pretty decent, I would of still preferred the original film poster art. The original poster art for TB has to be one of the greatest movie posters of all time. I recall as a kid in '65, when TB opened in NYC, the Sunday New York Times had a full page poster.

I guess the tricky thing would be making that look part of a series of Blu Rays, as this is a specific release of the 4Ks and you want the shopper to spot that, as the art for the posters is all so disperate. Putting it in a device like a border or frame is a bit naff and spoils the art to some extent.

I guess I was not considering the marketing and of course the relatively small size of a Blu Ray box.

I have to say there were a good number of folks (not necessarily actual big Bond fans) really jumping to some very negative conclusions regarding the Bond 4K Blu Rays before they even watched a single frame of them but Amazon proved them wrong as far as quality of the 4K presentations. They did right by the Connery films and given that you are basically paying $16.60 per film for the standard 4K Blu Ray set which typically can be had for $99.99, they didn't price gouge either. I also think that impending release of the Connery 4K's individually might grease the wheels for the release of a OHMSS 4K remaster at some point.

Well I'm not saying you're wrong, just that I struggle to think of a cool way of doing it. Doesn't mean there isn't one of course!

I don't doubt the rest are on their way: it's Bond, unlike other franchises, I don't think this one has ever had to abandon a commercial avenue so far. I must admit it's the Rogers I'm really looking forward to, especially as they're a bit newer and shot in a larger format (mostly), I reckon they'll look excellent.
