In my head I'd take the Man From UNCLE film and repackage it as Bond 26. Cavill's as perfect a Bond as there has been, Hugh Grant made, IMO, a pretty good M substitute and Vikander fits the Bond girl mould superbly.
I know it's not faultless but I'd take it over parts of the more recent films
I saw a post on Youtube mention that if the studio is going down the young Bond route, an interesting storyline could have Bond being on a mission with a younger Q in some way which fleshes out Bond and Q's backstory and explains why the original Q is bitter towards Bond for most of the other films. I think that could be a great storyline to take on especially if they found a decent actor to play a younger Desmond Llewelyn style Q. And for the title?

In my opinion, Q played by Desmond Llewellyn was more memorable to the masses than any of the other Ms so I think a story with Bond and Q would be better received than one with M.
Well it did a sh1t ton of business at the box office, so LOTS of movie goers apparently were interested…Eon ‘went there’ because they were pretty certain they were selling up by that point…and it was the only way to get Craig back to provide a coda to their series.

I'm not really a fan of this concept, it seems too silly even for a Bond to me. You can use it to introduce a new Bond in a way: -he breaks his brainwashing and so he discovers who he is at the same time the audience does- but really you're just straight up doing Bourne at that point.
I have been thinking there's a way of doing the 'glass screen in M's office assassination attempt' though: and that's to make M the baddie in the first film.
Have Bond get drafted by a kindly M to a new division he's setting up called the Double 0 section; it seems exactly what we have come to know the 00s as, nice wooden office and all; Bond is sent to dispatch a senior intelligence head who he has been told is a traitor (let's call him Smythe and put him in Jamaica), but Smythe overpowers Bond and it becomes gradually clear that he is innocent and M is secretly in league with an industrialist baddie (let's just give him a baddie name like Zorn) and the Double 0 section has been set up to be his private kill squad to protect Zorn's interests. The 00s are the bad guys! Bond and Smythe basically team up, fighting off lots of 00 agents along the way; and Bond confronts M in his office, tries to kill him, but M's defence screen goes up and Bond is captured: maybe M calls in Sir James Molony and we could bring the brainwashing in here, as he tries to brainwash Bond: mind torture scene in Q Branch!
But by the end Bond defeats Zorn's evil plans to take over the world and M is exposed as his co-conspirator, but Bond and Smythe persuade the government to allow the Double 0 section to remain and be reshaped as a force for good, with Smythe becoming the new M.
Along the way Bond is made to question his own loyalties and what he believes in, and goes from being just a killer who follows orders to someone who fights for what's right and does it his own way. So a bit of character development for Bond and showing his beginnings as 007 but without being a straight-up origin story.
And the film with this scene was Brosnan's most successful at the box office...
I think there is a good quote from Barbel somewhere in these forums along the lines that all the films in the series have made money and it is a real mystery why they don't release a film every 2 years.

All the films have made money - some far more than others…all of DC’s have done spectacular business…hence why Eon were desperate for him to return to close their ownership of Bond…
It’s logistically impossible to crank out a Bond film every two years now…
There are a few topics that's been done too much lately. such as AI as a threat, spy heroes going rouge and everyone's past. Very current topics I'd rather see are powerful billionairs, important cables and pipelines on the ocean bed, the new cold war, hybrid warfare and the Arctic.

I don't think many movie goers were interested in seeing Bond die but Eon went there ...
I think if there’s anything to set up in that fashion it’s the relationship between Bond and M which is more key, surely?
