Scenes that should be used for screen tests

We scenes like Bond's first meeting with Tatiana (FRWL) and the poker game in GE has been used when screen testing actors to play James Bond. What other scenes do you think would be good for an actor to show the elements needed to show the right potential. My suggestions:

  • Bond threatening Pushkin in TLD, (This shows Bond as the ruthless (but smart) assassin. same with the next scene on my list)
  • Bond meeting Lazar in TMWTGG.
  • Bond and Vesper on the train in CR. (Flirting and quips)

Your suggestions?

How about the dining scene with Scaramanga?

I think Brosnan also auditioned the scene from OHMSS where he disarms Tracy in the bedroom...and takes his gun back too (see what I did there). For TLD though. That scene would be good, plus the aforementioned Pushkin interrogation - as well as the Le Cercle scene between Bond and Sylvia. Hell, any of the casino scenes really. Maybe Bond dancing with Domino or on the beach with her later revealing her brother's death.

Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.

Oh yes, that OHMSS scene is a good one to do: he gets to do flirty, suave, tough, cold, caring. I'd really like to see Brosnan's version of that (I suspect it's better than the one we got!). From the pics it looks like he got to do the fight with Che-Che too?

The GE casino scene is a good one as Bond gets to be flirty with Xenia but also show a touch of suspicion at the same time: he gets to show a few sides to his character. When I see those other guys doing it for their tests it makes me appreciate Pierce more, he's communicating with the audience really well. I guess the FRWL scene has a touch of that as well, as he's not 100% sure of Tatiana but needs to seduce her too, plus play a gag or two, it's a good showcase of a few elements of the character. I wonder if any Fiona scenes might work in a similar way.

I don't know if it would work for a screentest, but one scene I'm quite impressed by is the snake/Rosie/small hat scene in LALD(!). Roger is so good in that, he's kind of subtly winking at the camera, taking the mick out of himself, then Rosie, playing her a bit, showing a bit of suspicion here and there: he really owns the screen in that in a way that Lazenby just wouldn't have been able to play.

I wouldn't pick the "small hat" scene from LALD, but that's just me.
