Nice one. Mollaka and Fisher from CR use the compact as well.

The full size 9mm USP may be the finest handgun I’ve ever fired. It became immediately apparent why they are so expensive. I have not handled the compact version.

Will Amazon go for a new gun for Bond? I don't know (obviously) and I don't think so, but I think they'll play it safe. My favourite is still the PKK. If they go for a new concealed carry gun for 007 it has to be a gun that has a distinct style. Like cars most handguns look the same these days. I say the Beretta Storm px4 subcompact is a good choice. It has rounded lines and you don't have to be a gun enthusiast/nut to pick it out from a lineup:

I own the PX4 Compact Carry (still space age looking but larger than the Subcompact). It's such a great gun. I continually hope the nontraditional design will begin to catch on since I want to see this line succeed. But while I think the Subcompact would be a brave choice—and Bond used to carry a Beretta!—I think it's too bold a move.

I definitely want them to freshen the IP a bit by going for a Beretta as his main handgun (as well as other novel brands like Bentley). If not, it'd be most cool for Bond to have a custom Walther called the 'PP7 Special Issue' or 'PK7' just as some of the PPKs have been labelled in the games. How awesome would that be.

A bit like his First Light gun, which is a sort of legally dissimilar not-quite PPK, but modernised a bit? Yeah I think that would be fun.

If the producers go for a "PK7" they won't get any product placement money. But my main problem with the idea is: why go for a fake PPK when Bond can carry a real PPK?

I’m not sure Walther have ever engaged in actual product placement, have they? Maybe for TLD with the rifle, but I think the films just use the PPK separately from the company. Maybe TND with the P99?

One of the Walther salespersons got a meeting with Brosnan around the time of TND and showed him a prototype of the P99. Brosnan liked it and talked the producers into using it in the film. It was really useful in the marketing of the P99. I'm not 100% sure what my source is, but it's probably Forgotten Weapons.

    Ah cool, thanks.

My comment was misunderstood. I don't want a fake PPK, I want a custom design handgun, as in a new model made strictly for the film. And call it the PP7 or PK7. Lack of product placement shouldn't be a problem for Amazon.

    Oh, that's better!

I think Bond should use in the Amazon 1 Movie first a small silenced Beretta Bobcat then later should switch to an Sig P365, which has Power and is easy concealable being single stacked like the PPK. Check out this weapons. It is what Bond should use today.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 23,699MI6 Agent

A single round pistol? I doubt it.

  • CheverianCheverian Posts: 1,521MI6 Agent

Are you talking about the Beretta Bobcat? Most models of the Bobcat line have magazines holding multiple .22 LR rounds. As far as I know, only the Bobcat Inox is a single shot.

  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 23,699MI6 Agent

Now I've learnt something today. ☺️

    But isn't 22LR weak?

What I'm keen for is another Bond sniper scene. Typically, the most memorable ones see Bond failing the task i.e. Bond missing the target (LTK); choosing not to shoot the target (TLD); or something obstructing the target (DAD) - although the AR-7 helicopter takedown is certainly nothing to sniff at. Makes me wonder how else you could go about such a scene. Would love to see the sniper rifle from GE64 or Black Box make it on screen one day.

I've discovered there's a gun called Walther CCP M2. I think it's a good candidate. It's a concealed carry pistol (CCP) made by Walther, so that helps a lot. The gun also has sleeker and more elegant lines than many modern guns, especially Glocks and clones of it. I wouldn't mind if the CCP becomes 007's service pistol issued by MI6 while the PPK remains his personal gun that he bought and owns personally. One could even make up a story that the PKK was inherited from his father, explaining why he has such an old gun.

I like the CCP - looks like a mini PPQ, which I had in one of my old fan stories:

Q labelled the PPQ as such because he had modified it to shoot Quietly without the use of a silencer, via small angled slots along the barrel which converted the explosion to a high frequency sound almost unheard by the human ear, much like a dog whistle. When Bond fired, there was a slight pitch, and a flash expelled from either side of the slide.

How would folks feel if Bond had his own unique gun designed especially for him? A bit like the First Light pistol, which is a sort of updated nearly-but-not-quite PPK. If he could drive a bespoke Aston Martin which never went on sale, I guess he could have his own signature gun.

EDIT: Sorry, bad memory means I forgot that Quentin said exactly this a few posts above! Yes, I agree 😁
