DB10 AGB - Rear registration plate image sought

Hi

My first post - please be gentle...!

I am looking for a close-up image of the rear of the DB10 - Specifically the registration plate.

It appears to be a Black-on-White perspex plate (ie would normally be a front plate in the UK, rears should be Black-on-Yellow) and uses the Charles Wright 1935 font rather than the period-correct (current) Charles Wright 2001 font, which is narrower?

I have seen a replica plate made of pressed metal (ie a sign rather than a genuine UK registration plate) - the original seems to perspex though?

I haven't spotted any lettering along the bottom of the plate, though the car is never stationary long enough to see that level of detail anyway?

I have searched through the forum, so apologies if this has already been addressed...!

Thank you

Hi there, and welcome to the forum!

I did a piece on the Christie's Auction, and if you look at the video at around the 10min 12 sec mark, you get a close up of the rear plate on the DB10. I hope that it's enough for your research!

I am a bit fascinated by the thought process behind that plate. Not only is it a bit on the nose in terms of the actual letters chosen, but using a white plate is so strange. Did they just not like how the yellow one looked do you think?

I always rather liked that Bond’s cars had really ordinary plates, so I remember being slightly disappointed by the BMW 7 series’s plate, and this one is a bit stagey too. I don’t need his number plates to be significant! :)

    Perfect - Thank you!

Standard UK reflective front plate with Charles Wright 1935 font and no lettering along the bottom.

I took this picture at an Aston Martin reception tour at the release of SPECTRE.
I have no idea if it matches the screen used car plate.

It looks to be absolutely correct - The wider Charles Wright 1935 font on a standard UK front plate - My speculation as to why a white plate was used is that the scenes are universally shot under street lamps, which might emphasise a yellow plate in some circumstances and make it look orange in others, so a white plate is clearly "British", but would give a consistent shot regardless of the lighting?

In pictures on here I have seen other Bond plates - notably the Roma860K plate used on the Jaguar C-X75 driven by Mr Hinx - can anyone point me to where these are being sold/made please?

I've spent some time in Italy and dont recall ever seeing a Roma plate of that style - it looks more like a Singapore plate (?) but it could be a plate with differing significance (Italy used to use different Prova plates, plate for a vehicle being exported etc)

The font on this plate seems to be an amalgamation of the two fonts however. It is wider, as per the 1935 font, but has the 'edges' (for want of a better word) on the D and B of the incorrect 2001 font. The seller saying the font on the plate for sale is the same as in the film and the 1935 font, is a little misleading.
    "Any of the opposition around..?"

    Interesting thought.

ER...YES These would be mine ! I was just about to say the chances of getting one now are slim to none, and as
if by magic....one turns up on Ebay.
I paid a little less than this but then i did buy 2. Not a bad price for a screen used item.
Bought some set pics off ebay and found out who supplied the cars and bought direct.
The jag one is valued at 7K at auction, not sure if this is a realistic price buit who knows.
If you really want that plate (its not me selling) and do get one i will donate some of the pics taken on the day with all the cars
lined up and a call sheet, and if theres 1 in the loft spare a crew pass. PM me.
I did ask 3 companies if they could replicate them for me, but no one could.

That really is a great collection!

I have the details of the firm in Lincolnshire that provided plates for a previous DC Bond film somewhere.

The point made in the post here by TheRedKind about serifs on the ebay Auction plate vs no serifs on the film car is the kind of detail I am looking for!

    Thank you

Yes that DB10 plate you have in the frame there isn't a great match for the ones on the movie cars - looks like it's pressed metal of some kind? Fun collection though!

I'm looking to make an accurate replica of DB10AGB - Would there be much interest if I can do multiple copies?

After some research, the DB10 AGB number plate appears to be the UK (Charles Wright) 1990 Font.
The font was changed to a thinner font to allow plates to display the EU Flag bar on the left and was standardised in 2001.
Current UK regulations specify the minimum height and width of the font but don’t actually specify the font style to be used, so the 1990 Font remains legal.
Apparently the 1990 Font is a more pleasing, simpler design and fills the plate better, which is probably why it was chosen for the film. No idea why they put a white plate on the back though. Maybe because of lighting or maybe just because it looked ‘cleaner’???

I’ve not only identified the correct font, I have also found somewhere to make me a replica display plate for my collection in the correct font. :D
Hopefully, it will arrive in the next week and I will post a picture here...

My replica show plate has arrived...
Here is the original, with what I believe to be the Charles Wright UK 1990 Font.
For some reason, the plate is white but would normally be yellow on the back in the UK.
Normally, there would also be some tiny legal print also missing from the film plates.

And here is my replica plate...

And a couple of friends to add to my display...

Apparently, these can go in the garage... (So I’ve been told!)

That is looking right, well done on getting the right font: there seem to be so many variations: the G seems to be the giveaway..? I have a feeling they may even have extended it just ever so slightly, but that may be an optical illusion!

How do you get these? I thought you had to show the log book to get them printed now.

    “Yes, it’s a bit of a problem.”
But of course UK law only applies in the UK... B-)

That's the Daniel Craig DB5 plate rather than the Connery one I guess! :)

Looks like EON didn’t know which font to use on their DB10! 🤣

They should follow AJB for accurate information...!
