Shoes and cufflinks

I can not have information on the Church's shoes worn by Brosnan in Goldeneye.
Nor can find the model cufflinks worn by Brosnan at the beginning of "The world is not enough" (scene in the bank Bilbao).
Someone can help, even with pictures of objects?

Cufflinks are from Dunhill, I believe... as was standard fare in the Brosnan era.

As for the shoes, he wore Church's black oxfords... I'm sure that translate to some style name in Church's (like the TWINE shoes were "Presley's"), but I can't recall offhand.

The brogues are Church's "Chetwynd" - in both black and brown.

Church's had print ads for the shoes with Brozza at the time.

Chetwynd is still part of the range and readily available (at least in the UK).

The cufflinks in the opening scene were supplied by someone else other than Dunhill but I can't remember who now, it's been soooo long. The rest were Dunhill AD2000 series in stainless steel and 18k gold highlights. None of them are available anymore.

The Bilbao cufflinks were pretty hideous, if I recall. They were rather large and triangular shaped (almost like the Star Trek insignia lol). If there's enough interest maybe you can get Magnoli to make a copy for you.

I am interested to copy Magnoli. What should I do?

Regarding oxford black Brosnan in Goldeneye, in addition to Balmoral wearing another model, but I do not know which.
You see scenes on the train and tanks.
    Of Chetwynd knew.

Anyone have any pics of these cufflinks, even tho they are no longer available?

Possible is so difficult to know which models Church's has worn Brosnan in Goldeneye, in addition to Chetwind and Balmoral?

So, Brosnan wore Church's Chetwynd, Balmoral, and Presley's? Are all of these confirmed? Were there any others? Which colors did he wear these shoes in?

Watching through GoldenEye, on the train scene (when Bond and Natalya are trapped by 006), when Bond's cutting thru the floor, if you freeze frame, you can see that he's wearing semi-brogues. Hope that helps,

    MrBig

EDIT: Narrowed it down to 2 styles, either the Diplomat, or the Perth (From Herring Shoes' website)

They can not be Diplomat in Perth because, as we see in scenes on the train and those on the tank, the tip of shoes is smooth.
It could be the model Legate, but I have news on.

You will see the brogue-ing on the toe cap if you look at this screenshot:

Thanks for the image, but perhaps we have not yet.
In scenes in the tank, you can see very well the shoes and the tip is smooth.
Even in the book "Eroe con stile", Brioni, (Dressed to kill) on page 91 can be seen clearly the tip smooth.

I just watched TWINE again tonight. When Bond was wearing the linen suit and blue shirt, he was also wearing a pair of chestnut colored monk strap shoes. The buckle was gold (brass) and it was bigger than the buckle on the Presley shoes by Church's. Do we know which ones these are?
  • mrbigmrbig Cotswolds, EnglandPosts: 68MI6 Agent
Most likely to be the Westbury in Tobacco Calf.

I do jump to conclusions don't I? It could also be the Sydney in Chestnut

Then, with the screenshot of Goldeneye should consider closed the debate on the semi-brogues?
The tip does not seem smooth, and then it is difficult for it Diplomat or Perth.

  • urhashurhash USPosts: 983MI6 Agent
I'd like to know the quality of the replica as well.

Do you have any of the other TWINE cufflinks?

They look spot on to the originals to me, the only thing that is wrong is the bar and stem.

To those trying to "match" the shoes on screen to those currently available to online Church's retailers, I would point out that Church's (like many other high-end shoe maunfacturers) delete many items from each year or season's ranges. Thus, the only way to correctly match the shoes on screen would be with a paricular year's catalogue that accompanied the film's production.

From my knowledge, for example, the "Presley" TWINE models (black and brown) did not make in beyond Church's 2000 range. The Oxfords from the period of the early Brosnan movie appears to tie tally with the "Balmoral" model; the Cheywynd models are - again only to my knowledge - the only shoes in GE - the print-ads of the period features Brosnan in tank outfit wearing black Chetwynd and a shot of him in "Aston-casuals" leaning against the car show him wearing Chetwynd in brown. The Chetwyd brown appear to be the same shoes worn in the Monaco harbour scenes.

I have pairs of both. They are very well made, comfortable shoes. AND they are currently available in Church's range, and have been a perennial classic for many years either side of Bond.
  • Giacomo-007Giacomo-007 ItalyPosts: 56MI6 Agent
And 'true that the Church's patterns change depending on the seasons, but Brosnan in his first two films has not worn only Blamoral and Chetwynd, but also semi-brogue.
For those not familiar with the model.

Just to add to the Diplomat or Perth debate...

The Diplomat have been a permanent fixture in Church's range; Perth seem only to have been listed short-term. The Perth was not listed in Church's most recent - 2007 - catalogue I have. It would seem likely Herring Shoes have old stock which they are clearly selling cheaply (compared with other Church's shoes).

The Diplomat appears in the earliest catalogue I have, 1999. Therefore, most likely the GE shoes.

However, Herring shoes say the Perth is made on Lasr 73; the Chetwynd's I bought in early 1996 were made on Last 73. And as Herring's say, they are the same pattern as the Diplomat. And considerably cheaper, for anyone interested.

I did, but like everything else Brosnan era, I sold them off last year to buy Casino Royale production stuff. The best cuflinks Brozza wore IMO, were the AD2000 TND ones. I'm sure Paul has a set of these. If only they had increased in value like the CR Dupont ones.

    hope these pics help...

as you can see, the dunhill version is more sturdy and expensive-looking...

also, as ASp9mm says, the stem and back are much more inferior...

actually, not sure you could wear the replica ones on missions where you might be throwing yourself around.... :))

It doesn't look as though they used shoe trees after wearing those. They would have helped maintain the shape a bit better as they 'rested'
