I'm afraid I will not be on here very much (or not at all) for a few weeks. Christmas shopping and stuff. I feel some people will not miss me.

With 2 young girls to care for, a wife, and a house to maintain, I'm afraid I don't get across to AJB007 as much anymore, but I do pop in occassionally.

Hello everyone! I seem to drop in every so often, but I've been in and out of AJB for six years now. Now I've returned to an upgraded site; those of you who are new might not remember the old site, but many of us have fond memories of it. Even as we press into the next decade and evolve with the times, the ever-friendly atmosphere is still the same as it was when I first joined in 2003.

For all those who are new to AJB, I'll tell you that this is a great place. Asking for help does not require a high post count here, and we have no seniority or hierarchy based on sheer post numbers. Remember, it's quality over quantity! There are many great people here... and if you're like me, you might get busy and leave for a while; but in your travels across the Web, you'll always find yourself coming back to AJB.

Cheers to the new site, everybody! I look forward to seeing you all on the forums, once again! {[]

Hello everyone, I am not very good at introductions so I'll cut to the chase, I am Commander Strangways (feel free to call me David if you wish) and am a James Bond fanatic to point out the obvious, just here to have fun posting and reading about my favorite film and book series of all time as it's influenced me a lot, hope to get along well with any of you fellow members!:)
It's the biggest! It's the best! It's Bond and beyond!

    Hello everyone!
I've been a member at MI6 forums under the name 'G section' for about a year and a half, so hello to any fellow MI6ers on this site! I've been reading this forum for ages now and am actually surprised that I've never registered here.
I was born in Norwich, UK and have lived there all my life (albeit a short one).

My parents introduced me to James Bond when I was only very young (about six years old), when watching OHMSS on television. To this day, OHMSS remains one of, if not my favourite Bond film. My favourite Bond actor is Timothy Dalton, although I like them all really. I started reading the Ian Fleming books when I started High School, 4 years ago, and my favourite Bond book is You Only Live Twice.

Outside Bond, my favourite films are Blade Runner, Rear Window (anything by Hitchcock will do), Once Upon A Time In The West, The Bridge On The River Kwai and The Italian Job (the British version of course).

Other than Bond my interests include Rugby (Union in particular), Football (that's soccer to those in the States), History, Geography and acting.

I look forward to talking to everyone on the forums.

    Cheers,

    Matt

    Welcome Matt, aka Mister Hood!

Your movie tastes fit right in with our crowd! OHMSS is v popular and gets better with age; shame there's no Bond on telly this Christmas.

Thanks very much for the welcome.

I'd rather there be no Bond films at christmas. Just watch ITV's horrendous cuts and you'll see what I mean. ;)

    Hi,
This is my second post here. I posted this on another section of the forum but it was suggested that this would be a better place for it.
I am looking forward to reading through and adding to the posts.
My favorite Bond has too be Sean Connery followed by Daniel Craig, the reason being both are exude danger from every pore of there being.
    Post again soon.

From a befriended forum member, I have heard, that several people here on the board have been asking about me.

Thank you very much for asking, I am doing well. Rumours, that trans-gender operations were due this year and I don't have the time to post are totally false! :D

Truth is, that I am keeping away from AJB since November 2009 because I have been criticized by AJB Moderator Moonraker5 in a totally inacceptable way in a thread, which has been deleted in the meantime.

I don't want to bore with all details and I'd like to point out, that I know, that I am far from being perfect. It is absolutely ok to criticize me for what I DO.
What is not ok is to get on me in public for what I AM. Mods are asking us members to be respectful against each other and I expect the same thing from Mods.

In the thread in question, Moonraker 5 was getting on me in a very personal way such as discussing my qualifications for being an AJB Moderator. Something, that I have never ASKED to be, something I never WANTED to be. But putting this into the context of my personality is way out of line and I feel having been displayed "pants down" that way.

I repeat: NOONE!!!!! has the right to do this! Not my boss, not my friends and noone on AJB,

To make things more bad, Moonraker5 does not even feel the need to even reflect his actions or to get into any kind of constructive discussion with me regarding all this. The only message, which I have received from me on my complaint via pm was, that he'll forward any word to the mod's forum.

AJB remains to me to be the best board which is about 007 and is still a well-moderated forum. But this does NOT mean, that everything is perfect and everything has to be accepted. Mods have a functuon and a uniform, but they are not Gods!
As long as the powers from AJB do back up such a behavior, I stay away from AJB.

    Kind regards

    M.

Glad to hear that you are doing well Bondtoys!

Thanks again for your support last August during the Ted Kennedy tribute thread. What started out as a simple thread to pay respects to someone who just passed, turned into a hate-fest by an idiot here who always had to start trouble - hopefully he continues to stay away!

The mod's did nothing to lock down what turned into a political argument, but I appreciate your efforts to keep the peace and keep the thread on track!

It was good of you to step in, you are a stand-up guy! Best regards!

    Bondtoys,

Glad you have not packed up entirely. I can't speak to what went on because I was not involved in that thread or aware of it. All I can say is that I believe AJB needs your expert knowledge here. Sometimes things can get out of hand I suppose. We are all human. If the thread dissapeared, pehaps that's for the best. Hope to see you squeezed into your Madagasscar shirt around these parts soon.

It is unfortunate you feel that way, but you have passed your thoughts on to the forum owner as I and the other moderators are aware.

The moderating team are well aware that for some time you do not think that AJB is well run and that standards have fallen "drastically". This was before your beef with me, and before you accused another moderator of having a personal issue with you because he also asked you to reign in your remarks. There has been some discussion among the moderators - actually long before anyone actually suggested to you that you were upsetting people. Your beef is not simply with myself, nor the other moderator you have accused of having a personal vendetta against you, but with the standards of AJB itself and how it is moderated. Perhaps being in that bubble I have a warped view of what's going on, but I would say with some considerable confidence - backed up loudly by the others in the team - that AJB has been really rather consistent over the years. It's regrettable you feel otherwise since those standards had to be applied to yourself.

To paraphrase from SiCo's conclusion in the moderator forum in early December "The consensus still stands."

Well, if anyone needs evidence of my unhappiness, that you don't feel the need to reflect your actions, there it is.

M5, it's easy to point my finger to the entire mod team, makes things much easier for your ego, doesn't it?
My main issue is with YOU and what YOU have done.

You stepped out of your moderator role to get on me directly and personally. You could have mentioned, that I am upsetting people (by the way we have a pm system if such steps should be handled discreetly). No problem with that.

But I repeat it: This does not give you any right to get down on me that personally and humiliate me that way!

What you did was to discuss my personal qualifications for being an AJB mod, which is strictly dealing with me as a person. And that's what is not ok, do you get it??

I did complaint earlier (in private and not in public) that some members dragged down the level of discussions on the board and I stand with it. And I know, that I am not the only one with that opinion. Do you want me to quote according comments from other members here?
Or, maybe insult them in the personal way like you did with me?
Saying that I doubted AJBs standards may make your point stronger but is utterly nonsense.

And the other mod felt to criticize me in the Ted Kennedy thread, where Rick Roberts insulted me and others in a very bad way and I have asked him, if criticizing me is the correct direction.
And as far as I remember, it is consensus even in the mods team, that everything which happened around Rick Roberts was very unfortunate and was far from perfectly handled by mods.

I have not doubted AJBs standards, but you have been crossing the line with your pure personal remarks on me.

And quoting me from PMs here on the board (out of context by the way) is simply another bad play: PM means PRIVATE Message. If I quoted everything, which I have received from mods and members here on the board, it will be very dirty. But I know, what discretion is about, do you?

But as said, you obviously feel so "goddish" that you don't even feel the need to reflect your actions. Rest yourself in the mods team and have a good time!

With a minimum of taste and style, I would have expected you to to be a man and to discuss the entire matter via pm with me. Something, that you have denied or have been hiding for.

As I don't intend to reply further here on the board because of the damage, that it does to AJB:
    You have my email address.

Bondtoys, let me back up M5 here--he did not say anything to you and about you that was not the result of discussions on the moderators' forum and which was not backed up 100% by all of us. So, if you really do want to complain, you can add me to your list of persecutors.

Why persecution? I don't understand why this has all gotten so personal. To quote someone we have in common "the past is a bucket of ashes". There is no need for any of this to get personal, can't we all just agree to disagree and get on with being friends. Why can't everyone involved just have a virtual handshake and get on with discussing Bond. I'll be gutted if Bondtoys leaves, he is a true friend.

So, if it is common agreement between mods, that it is ok to insult and expose members on the board, then my vacation will be longer.

Who do you guys think you are to give yourselfs the permission to treat other people like that?

    And to call yourself persecutors:
HB, I have great respect for you and for what you do.
But you are NOT prosecutors, you are mods, for heaven's sake, you are here to keep it civil. You are wearing a uniform but this does not make you better people and does not give you the right to violate basic rules of respect.

If you feel the need to persecute someone, then I suggest you consult an expert.....

If the past is a bucket of ashes, then that bucket just got spilled here, and it wasn't by a mod.

BT. You love to argue. That's your thing. If I was so inclined, and unemployed, we could correspond some extremely lengthy poison pen letters. You enjoy them. We don't. Please get over yourself.

Perhaps you could make a suggestion. What exactly are you after here??
