In my Opinion, any CGI in a Bond Film is an Insult to the entire Franchises History of using real Stuntmen doing real, amazing Stunts. CGI will always ruin it though (Yes, I'm looking at you Windsurfing Scene in DAD) X-(

    Agreed bad cgi is the worst, but the model work on the Bonds has always been good. -{

I prefer real stunt work to CGI on the whole but...

The Casino Royale car flip always looks what it was; completely fake. You can't flip a car like that so easily, as they found out.

I'm not saying CGI would have solved this problem but stunt work can look equally fake too in the right (wrong) circumstance.

Coming back to the money situation. Maybe Bond sold that Aston Martin he won in CR on Autotrader :))

    This is another Skyfall question.

After the underwater fight in the loch, Bond fires a flare. Now my question is ....
Did Bond fire this to find the original hole he and the villain fell through. Or
Would the flare generate enough heat to " burn" a new exit for him ? :D

I thought it was to find the hole they made when he shot through the ice.

From re-watching the scene, this is apparently the purpose for the flare as they had sank fairly deep during the struggle. My only quibble with this whole piece is the depth they sank. Had I put the scene together, I would have had them only sink eight or ten feet. Having to hold one's breath that long that deep - in a frozen over pond no less, while fighting for one's life, would have been an olympian feat. Even many SEALS, when taken to Alaska to stand up to their necks in freezing water as an endurance test, fail it. I knew a SEAL and he said it was one of the worst things he ever endured. In combat they wear dry suits to prevent hypothermia. In reality, when Bond and the goon fell beneath the pond, they would have both suffered instant cold shock. They would have immediately begun to hyperventilate and since they would have drawn in water instead of air they would have drown. Trying to off each other would have been the furthest thing from their mind.

To make matters worse, the writers have Bond swim back down to the ever sinking dead goon to retrieve his flare! Immersion in freezing water can quickly numb the extremities to the point of uselessness. Cold hands cannot fasten the straps of a lifejacket, grasp a thrown rescue line, or hold onto an over-turned boat.

This scene would have been find if they fell off the boat in the tropics, but on a freezing Scottish moor at night..not so much. To make it even more unbelievable, Bond shows up to kill Silva and shows no sign of what he had just escaped from, outside of being wet. I understand the desire of the filmmakers to make Bond appear invincible to a degree, but for me this was as bad as surviving a gunshot and a fall of hundreds of feet to a raging river and waterfall.

-{ Very Interesting, as always it's amazing the facts you pick up
on AJB. {[] I'm reading a book at the moment all about an ex-navy
Seal ( lent to me by Barbel -{ ) and some of the stuff about their
    Training is astounding.

The depth they sank also made me wonder... Are Lochs really that deep?

Loch Morar, is 310 metres deep, so I guess a few are that deep.

Has anyone noticed that in one scene Kincade is seen standing with 2 black dogs, then the dogs are never seen again.

I just noticed that Bond is not wearing a watch in the bar scene after the pre title sequence. I always wondered how he payed for his stay there (and all the booze). Considering the times Bond kept his watch on during times it would usually be next to the bed I think this was a deliberate decision by the filmmakers.

It may have been to show that as Bond had left the service, and
was slumming it, time no longer had a meaning for him ? Or
    Some such visual metaphor. :))

Either way, it must have been deliberate. Otherwise Bond would have been holding the drink with his left hand and we would have had a 2 minute insert shot of the scorpion close up.

They could have gone the Casino Royale route....

Bond: I'd like to rent that cabin on the beach.
    Guy: That's 60 Turkish Lira a night.
Bond: Well I don't have any cash on my right now, but I do have this watch I can give you.
Guy: O that is very nice, Rolex?
Bond: No, it is an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 232.30.42.21.01.001 on sale at your local jewelry store for 11670 Lira.

Hey, it's better done in Bond then the episodic interruptions in some shows like Bones. Though I could lose the beer... Seagrams or Skul or someone with good vodka... get on the ball!

Ok so here is the official line from MI6 The Scorpion drinking game is for cash, unfortunately as gambling is banned in some culture the exchange of money was not shown on screen. So they would either have to drop the scene from the film for some countries or remove the cash changing hands, Mendes felt the scene was key so it stayed with shots of money changing hands removed. But basically Bond lives on what he wins night after night.

-{ Thanks, Makes sense. Bond does like to gamble. :))
