I thought it was more like that lousy Scorsese film where Leo DeCaprio goes to the Island of Lunatics. But this was better.

A bit of a let down after the excellent Toby Jones/Jimmy Saville-like episode the week before, but still enjoyable nonetheless. Andrew Scott was great as usual despite his limited screen time.

Loads of Bond references and strikes me that Gatiss and Moffatt are going all out for the Bond gig...

Could they pen a Bond script? Hmmmmmmmm

I think they could- as long as it's a stand-alone adventure, without digging into Bond's past! (Oh, please.)

Watching some of the special features on series four. The production designer says
His prison island set was indeed an homage to Ken Adam and the Bond sets. :)

Got round to seeing The Final Problem last night, and like the rest of series four I found it quite enjoyable but not as good what has come before. If I had to choose one of the last three episodes as a favourite, it could well be The Final Problem. I really liked the Dr No feel as well, especially the ceiling of the cell on the island. Very much like the room in which Prof Dent gets the tarantula from Dr No. Decent ending to the series, and it follows the previous trend of the final episode from each series being my favourite.

I agree, certainly like to think they couldn't do any worse than the last third of Spectre...

Ok some of their writing on Who and Sherlock can get a little self indulgent and complicated but that is a common problem when writing for TV. I think that some of the writing on Sherlock has been superb over the years, and I know in particular that Mark Gatiss is especially knowledgeable about Bond- yes I'd give them a shot at it...

As a fan of the literary Sherlock Holmes I was pretty skeptical about the updated story and avoided watching it until midway between series 2 and 3. I loved it right up to the final episode of 3, His Last Vow, from that moment on I find it pretty silly. Mary being some assassin, Sherlock and Mycroft having a sister who is a cross between Bond villain and Stephen King character... it all got to be too much. It got to be more like James Bond than Sherlock Holmes it seemed, and I go to the actual James Bond for my James Bond. Like I said though, I enjoyed the first 2 and 2/3 seasons of it, but I prefer the Granada series.

I haven't seen series four yet, even if I own the steelbook blu-ray.

I kind of loved some of series three, but some was just "too much" I guess.

Still, Sherlock with Cumberbatch and especially Freeman is overall already a true classic.

Will be great to post some of my favourite things into this thread.

The first season(s) of Sherlock was brilliant, but after a while just catching murderers wasn't enough for them. They started creating stories that were just too fantastical. It has wasn't about the great character solving murder anymore, but world wide conspiracies and silly pilots.

Elementary has stay ed ground ed and about the characters, so now I prefer that.
Plus Lucy Liu is amazing :D

First series of Sherlock had three terrific episodes, the Great Game being
    Especially good.
Second series, superb all three are excellent !
Series three. The first episode explains what happened to Sherlock in
Series two, with some great comedy moments.
Series 4, the weakest of the series but it's full has it's moments, the last one.
An obvious homage to the Bond series.
In my opinion Sherlock is a true gem amongst the usual crap TV out there. The
Writing is very clever, with a great sense of fun and a terrific ensemble of acting
Talent. Not only the two main leads but Mrs Hudson and Lestrade . Andrew Scott
As Holmes's arch nemesis is a stunning portrayal. Yes at times they have tried to
Be a bit too clever, but at the end of the day. I'd still rather watch a weak episode
Of Sherlock to anything else on television.

Any news on the Sherlock team's Dracula production.

The rumour is to update Dracula in the same way they did with Sherlock.

If they do, they should use this book for reference: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draculas-Whitby-Ian-Thompson/dp/1445602881
