I'd say the Roger Moore autograph looks very suspicious!

These look different to the ones I got in person by Lazenby in 2005  ajb007/confused

They do look a little too clean but I do notice some similarities to mine I got in person in 2014. I got one TTM a few months after (which I had sent over two years previous). Which also looked cleaner but had similarities. Tough to say as GL does have some inconsistencies in his signing.

And yes, BondCollectibles has taken a lot of fun out of collecting, making you question anything that isn't in person or through a private signing/convention.

Sorry but zero faith in anything associated with Jack M. Sell; has posted dozens of blatantly fake Bond -- as well as other films and series -- pieces.

Re: Autograph Reference Section

Hi All. I am off work this week so will hopefully get round to posting some autographs I have got in person - if that helps others.

Meantime , may I ask a question.  I have 2 signed paperback book pages that id like to put in a frame on my wall. But, Im worried that being in the light will fade them. I had a signed football programme where the biro signature has faded after about 15 years.  They aren't in direct sunlight, and I have plenty of sharpie signed pictures that have been okay.
I seem to recall my local framing company mentioned selling glass that should protect it, but I don't want to risk them as I probably will never get them again (they are signed books from 2 members of The Police , Sting and Andy Summers.

Any advice guys ?

Re: Autograph Reference Section

Even UV coated glass isn't 100% protective......could always copy it and hang copy on the wall.

I recently purchased this Sean Connery photo. As I didn't buy it from the trader himself but from the person who bought it from him, I sent a scan of the photo to UCLA and they said in their opinion it's genuine and the trader although retired now was an honest trader. The one thing that concerns me about collecting autographs is the autopen which has been around for years. How do fans know if they're buying a genuine handsigned photo or one signed by machine?

570

Re: Autograph Reference Section

I've just googled autopen signatures and the opinion seems to be that if the signature is too thick and uniform it could be suspect, as a handwritten signature will vary it's pressure points. Closer inspection of this Sean photo, I can see the pressure does fluctuate a bit especially on the first letter (B) where the ink fades in and out slightly. If everyone looks out for this, it might help identify a genuine handwritten one.

571

Re: Autograph Reference Section

I have great familiarity with the autopen in other areas of collecting and although I have never seen a Connery autopen with which to compare this example, from the image you provide I do not believe that this is an autopen signature. That said, I could not comment on its authenticity beyond that opinion. Best of luck to you.

Re: Autograph Reference Section

Noob here. How much should one expect a Connery or Craig autograph to go for?
Is there any Bond actors/actresses that will actually sign something if you send them a letter?
I know back in the day a lot of people would write celebrities and some were good about autographing a photo and sending it back?

Re: Autograph Reference Section

My grandmother passed away 2 years ago ( ajb007/crap ) and while she didn't have many things that she could pass on to me, I found an old towel that she used even up until her death. It appears that Telly Savalas and Ford had some sort of deal to promote their products.
EDIT: They made some commercials back in '82, so that probably dates this towel back to then.
In Belgium, my grandfather worked at the Genk factory of Ford and they might've given that to him while he was there [he also got to buy a discounted Escort Mk1/Mk2, one of them being green oddly (that's worse than Higgy-babes trainers, I'm sure), as well as a Ford branded necktie as a celebration of a certain number of cars being produced there. (The Mk1 has had its roof collapsed due to a storage mishap and the Mk2 was sold in the 80s.)].
I might just have won coolest "technically an autograph but not really" award here.
http://i66.tinypic.com/13ztzq8.jpg
I will cherish it until the end of time. Makes me feel even more sad that we never saw a Bond film together (or that I didn't spend as much time as I could've when she was around).
