    Hello to all,

Well done Canuck007, a lot of good work.
I have tried to follow all Code3 since the beginning and you have participate a lot in all code3 collection.
Please find here a magazine made form 'my' own Renault 5 turbo and for all "Never say never again" movie.
If I can manage all house stuff, I will make other code 3 this year.
    Cheers.

Well this page has quietly waited for something.

Being ignorant and maybe to old for all that you guys are doing, can someone please explain what exactly are code 3, code 4 etc etc.

    Hello Tonz

Yes it has been very quiet here. Everyone waiting for the 1/43 DB10 to arrive!

As far as I know a code 3 is a model that has been altered without the manufacturers consent - not illegal.

Some one did do a list of the difference between code 1, 2,3 etc. but was many pages ago. I can't recall what a code 4 was.

    Hello tonz & all,

Yes, quiet bussy also for me , as I have a lot of other projects... :)
But I have some model on my desk. (and also a Millenium Falcon, from Altaya...!!)

What means all of that (which is just a way netween us) :
    (from page arround 261...)
CODE 1:  Models produced totally by the manufacturer.
CODE 2:  Models that have had logos and/or extra detail applied by a secondary company under licence, usually for re-selling or gifting as small promotional runs.
CODE 3:  This is the refinishing or alteration of a model by adding new logos, repainting, adding more detailed finish usually by model enthusiasts for their own use. And new models just created by enthusiasts fan !
CODE 4: new models just created by enthusiasts fan !, not related to James Bond. I have created some movie models, based on the same way as JB collection.

One of my last project, work in progress, not finished :
    26_Mentalist_01.jpg

Hope to see many news on JB & movie cars here..
    Cheers.

Cheers that makes all these codes very understandable.
So then some of the photos above of code 3's of James Bond cars are extra vehicles not done by manufacturer ? correct and the official list still stands at 134 vehicles in the 1/43 scale

    Hello Tonz

Yes, I've done a number of code 3s, not just from the Eon films but Casino Royale (1967) and NSNA. Others have done the same.

I've also created cars from the novels and comic strips - over 100 at the last count (I know don't say it........... I have enough withering looks from my wife :)) )

Great news, lj1989! Where are you located that you have got one already? Is this from the U.S. collection?

I found it at "polish ebay" - www.allegro.pl
It was a "lucky shot" at the browser. I can't even tell you how much I was happy at that moment! I will do some extra photos as soon as the package will arive!

Well, the car itself is - IMO - very well made. Problem comes with the background - lack of details etc :-/ Obviously - no Daniel Craig figure :-p

OMG! This is Awesome! I hate to admit I was losing faith and haven't completed a Code 3 in a while, but this has inspired me to get some projects going again. I may not post anything until the Fall as Summer is just too much fun in Ontario and modeling is an indoor job.
It's great to see like minded people post messages here, it's a great group!

Just ordered my first DB10 from a site based in France

I wondered if this was a subscriber gift or if there would be a magazine. It's number 11 of the Italian collection. Is the 'Bond in Motion' collection still going in the UK or has it ended early?

    Hello all

The latest news about the DB10 has nudged me into posting a few more code 3's. I also visited Bond in Motion in Covent Garden a couple of days ago - really very good - and the Spectre cars are now on display so I've seen the real DB10 - beautiful!

    Anyway - enjoy.......................

    Hi,

I am sure this will have been asked before but the thread is 7000 posts long...!

...So can the cars be removed from their display boxes and displayed naked? (and played with?) If so is there a recommended technique for prising them loose? They seem to be stuck down pretty good.

The diorama boxes are kind of nice but I like to be able to touch models.

Just bought a set of 30 cars from the series. I am not really interested in whether keeping them unmolested is good for collectability or value or whatever. Just wanna enjoy having (and touching!) the models...

    Thanks

Yes, the models are secured to the bases with usually just one screw, so they are fairly easy to remove from the bases.

Some of the later issues use a crosshead (philips) screw, but unfortunately most of the models use a tri-head screw which ideally requires a triangular screwdriver to loosen, but I was able to use a flathead screwdriver to do this until I got a triangular one.

Just note that the tri-head screw used has a smaller head than the more common "IXO" screw used in the past by that diecasting company to secure its models to their bases, so buying a so-called IXO screwdriver won't help. It's best to buy a set of tri-head screwdrivers that has multiple sizes.

    OK fair enough, thanks.

So I guess I have to pull the base of the box off to access the screws?

Not at home right now so I can't investigate further but I don't remember any visible exposed screw heads when I looked at the models after unpacking them.

    Hello

When you turn the base upside down the screws will be obvious and easily accessible. As FACT said you can easily obtain a set of triangular screw drivers and I'd suggest you do that rather than trying to prise them off.

You can use them as 'toys' - I've passed on some of the ones I didn't need to nephews and they've had some joy out of them BUT most models are just that - models, so lots of the parts attached to the main model is delicate and won't stand up to too many home made car chases :)

So they're not toys really but they are lovely models.

Enjoy them however you wish my friend!
  • mojorisingmojorising Posts: 3MI6 Agent
    Thanks SWJ.

I see them now. They are the same colour as the base so did not notice them before.

I will try them on display outside the box for a while and maybe re-enact some great scenes complete with engine-vroom noises!

Just because I am 48 does not mean I am to old to play with toy cars.

Cool things are meant to be touched :D

I bought one a week ago. I'am not so satisfied with the Quality for the Price! The Hood of The Engine doesn't fit perfect.
But then... I've waited so long for this Model and there is nothing better on the Market in that size.
At least there is a nice Detail on the dashboard
