Bomb Sleds

While Ken Adam conceived the "bomb sled / sub-tank" seen in 'Thunderball' [1965], proof of concept was left to underwater camera operator, Jordan Klein, via this 10" x 16" plaster model.

The case was originally filled with bits of random foam, much of it starting to rot; I have replaced with layers of custom-cut sheet.

Also included are several dozen never-published transparencies of the actual sled during rehearsals, camera set-ups, etc.

Lot #247 in the Fall 2016 Prop Store Auction.

In remaking 'Thunderball', a less fanciful concept of the bomb sled was needed for 'Never Say Never Again' [1983].

Concept drawings and blueprints for the carrier by Production Designer Stephen Grimes.
Vary in size from about 16" x 20" to 3' x 4'.

Lot #249 in the Fall 2016 Prop Store auction.

Cool - thank you for outbidding me! :(

I spoke to Jordan when I purchased the Tow Sled and he offered me the Bomb Sled miniature but I felt it should be in the Archive so I put him in touch with EON who requested he got 3 estimates from 3 auction houses before they would even discuss purchasing it. As you've probably gathered Jordan couldn't be asked to go to all that trouble!
Congratulations on securing it but I'd hoped it was Meg Simmonds who'd outbid me.

This is one of pieces I've proposed loaning to Designing 007 or Bond in Motion.

From Prop Store's standpoint I think it underperformed; certainly less than I was prepared to bid on it!

I hope that comes to fruition for you. I offered them & Meg accepted the OHMSS Asprey set for exhibition purposes July 2015 and it's still sitting here! :s

Quite honestly I expect to be politely rebuffed.

Don't expect the 'polite' bit :(

I was politely rebuffed when I offered Ms. Simmonds my 51-playing-card deck (Brozza films only) and my SA reproduction of Vargas's swimming trunks (spear included).

Two words: Spy House Restaurant! (Wait, that's three words . . . )
Seven (007) James Bond Tours! Mission: Mexico!

Very glad to hear that it will be safely, and lovingly, stored in your collection. Thank you for sharing the photos. ---Ed
