    The US shot and killed bin laden, do you think they wouldn't have done that if he'd been a us citizen or was hiding on us soil? Operation Flavius was sanctioned by a democratic government and carried out on home soil. Operation nimrod was also.

    So, citizen even though they don't think or behave like one. They are legally citizens, so jail or deport the bastard. If they are deported and thje citizenship taken away, get fingerprints, DNA samples etc. and make sure the never get near a country with a functioning legal system again. The difference between killing an ISIS camp in Iraq and killing an ISIS trained terrorist in Islington is that the terrorists in the camp can't be arrested. If we know a person in the UK has been in a terrorist training camp, we know enough to put the person in prison for many decades.

    I don't see how operation Nimrod is relevant at all. That wasn't assassination, but storming an embassy held by terrorists to save hostages. Neither was operation Flavius. The SAS weren't sent to Gibraltar to assassinate the IRA-men and the SAs IS not an assassination force. What you are suggesting is a plan to pick out UK citizens to be assassinated (if I understand correstly, hidden as other causes of death) according to lists. That's very different from saving hostages or surveilance of suspected bombers goen bad. I'm not against killing terrorists when neccesary, I'm against turning modern nations into banana republics running assassination programs.

    Nice teenage photo, Barbel. Heve you kept the hairstyle? :D
    Nice bunnies. Chriscoop and I are having an interesting discussion, but I hope he agrees it's about the issues and not personal. We both slipped up once with a politically correct- comment and my comment about being cool, but we are only human.

    Both Flavius and nimrod were instructed to use lethal force, regarding nimrod only one terrorist survived, and this only due to the fact he pretended to be a hostage. One terrorist was shot over 40 times by 3 separate sas operatives so they weren't attempting an arrest. Both these operations are in the public domain which is why I referred to them, they both have similarities to my thoughts on modern terrorists, such as sanctioned operations to stop a terrorist attack by lethal force, there many other examples, but osa would prevent these being discussed.
    Whats this list you mention? I wouldn't want a hit list! I am simply voicing that terrorists who become pertinent and have enough evidence against them through surveillance and intelligence are dealt with by way of termination before they commit their acts of terror. As for throwing them in jail? Why send them to an expensive institution to radicalise more people?

    Just sitting out in the warmth having a beer, a cigar and listening to the approaching thunderstorm. Also listening to varied music including Rush, John Barry, Eric Clapton, Cum Dederit, blue oyster cult, punk Floyd and many more. Great way to finish of a busy day and let the veal and zucchini digest. -{

    They were instructing to use let har force because they were up against armed terrorists holding hostess or suspected of carrying a bomb. In the embassy they didn't kill the last terrorist because he wasn't a direct threath to anyone and it was possible to arrest him. In other words Operation Nimrod was done the way I want (kill terrorists when you must, arrest them when you can) and not your way.

    I remember talk of a hit list, but that might be TP. Either way your plan could very easily turn into a list.

    Nezad was arrested by police outside the embassy after pretending to be a hostage, he was pointed out by some of the hostages later. the SAS team involved in Flavius were ordered to use lethal force, one of the IRA was shot in the back. Which is why the prolonged court cases happened and why the European Court found the killings unlawful, there is a bond connection there as the fatal bullet fired by the sas man severed the terrorist's spine, which Bond was threatened with in Casino Royale.
    Now realisticly speaking ideally a lethal force order granted by a specialist high judge after reading confirmed reports only negates a physical chain of evidence. If you've done investigative or surveilance work you simply know facts after 100's of hours of work, the criminal law here dictates you need a wealth of evidence to successfully arrest and prosecute someone, add to that that a jury may include extremist sympathisers and you get into very unsound ground to remove a terrorist from causing carnage. That is the essence of my thinking. A bullet to the head or a lethal injection and a quiet dissappearance would save lives. These operations may only ever number one every 5 years. I'm not suggesting we March every slightly dodgy or intolerant Muslim up against a wall and shoot them! Far from it.
    I can't imagine the UK turning into a banana Republic! We have a royal family and we don't have the climate to grow bananas.
