There was this picture I saw on DailyMail of Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz Attending 'Hamlet' Opening. Can anybody identify what watch is Daniel wearing?

The strap looks like some Omega NATO, but I'm not sure about the watch

Yes I spotted last week over on the Dc's personal effects thread, I think it's a planet ocean, definitely on a nato but not an omega one unless they have released more colours than the 8 original natos.
What looks like a white bezel looks like glare from case around the dial under the crystal. The profile of the lugs looks like the planet ocean. I'd say 2500 and 42 mm

Higgins, it's sort of a sad story but a deal is a deal.
And from the looks of it you bought it for quite a steal.
It's odd how some people put fake inserts into their watches. I'd prefer to have a scuffed up, f*cked up watch than a fake component.
Lovely story, L.L.P. Higgy-babe, wow. Side-note, how many Grand Seikos have you got? They all look stunning.

The TND Display, I didn't get back. I had to buy it again.

During the burglary one of my Breguets has been stolen and that turned up on ebay one day.
Seller refused to give it back, got a court order and on Christmas Eve the authorities searched his house and I've gotten it back.

The Display in Asp9mm's sock drawer is the TWINE display watch which I've bought from him.

Chances were he also had the TND display.
How did you know it was your Breguet?
Was the thief stupid enough not to steal the box as well as the watch and, if you don't mind me asking, did he steal just those two watches? If so, they were in one hell of a rush.
Great stories, Higgy-bae. I'm very impressed.
I was wondering (and anyone can chime in), are Hi-Beat Grand Seikos still produced? If so, I'm liking the idea of getting one.

GS are still offering Hi-Beat watches.

    http://www.grand-seiko.com/collections/

I don't know about GS but I know, that Zenith always had lubrification problems with their hi-beat Primero movements. One of the reasons why Rolex slowed them down to 28.800 in their Daytonas.

The theft is 15 years ago and at that time, on the Breguet homepage, there was a window that opened and had listed all reported stolen watches. I had it reported (like all stolen watches) and an ebayer alerted Breguet because the number matched.

They did not find the boxes and certificates but in total, they got around 5 watches from me. The Breguet was the only one that has been recovered.

The most painful loss was the TND display. It was displayed in a showcase and fully wired. They just cut the cable off when they took it - I am sure that they had no idea about what it was.

The Breguet could be tracked back 2 more steps:
Ebay seller bought it from a jeweller on ebay - jeweller bought it from a reseller in Dortmund.

Dortmund police ordered the reseller to tesitfy and after he did not show up trice, case has been closed :(
I've reported the officers involved - nothing has happened.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge on the Rolex 6542 GMT , being a GMT owner myself ,I was just staggered to see the price difference ,and now our esteemed watch guru Higgins ,informs us that the watch in my original question is cheap :s can some one please explain why the big price please im dying to know ,
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,618MI6 Agent
    Well, quite simple:

A 6542 in perfect and original condition is worth at around 100k.

An original bakelite bezel uncracked in perfect shape will fetch prices over 50.000.

We don't know the contition of the 6542 in the mentioned offer, but 20-30k sounds relatively low. But everything depends on how the condition of the auctioned watch really is. A rocked-down 6542 could be worth less than 20k - but I'd certainly buy such a wreck.

I see. Sad that you never got to recover the other watches, certainly handy for Breguet to have something like that.
It was like '02, right? Smart watches weren't a thing so why would the thieves steal a wired watch? Brutes.

I do like a smooth seconds hand, though. We will see.
