The "Many Bonds" theory (original timeline)

What do you make of it? The idea that James Bond is simply a codename?
The one glaring element in it seems to be Tracy.
But the arguments for it are:
-Bond's face and personality changing;
-The fact that Commander James Bond is widely reported as dead in 1967, even listed in the newspapers as such with Connery's photo, and then is alive and well, using the name later on and no one bats an eye;
-The fact that Blofeld and Bond do not seem to recognize each other in 1969, despite having met face to face in 1967. OHMSS makes it seem like this is their first meeting. Even if you say "OMHSS occurs first, YOLT simply came out first", okay, why does Blofeld introduce himself to Bond as if it's their first meeting in YOLT, and why does Bond bear him no ill will? If OHMSS was their actual first meeting, shouldn't Bond despise Blofeld in YOLT for killing Tracy?
-The "this didn't happen to the other fellow" comment in OHMSS
-The fact that Bond could be young and healthy in the 1990s despite being in service since at least 1962.
Mind you, I'm limiting this theory to the original timeline, since CR was a reboot and may as well exist in it's own universe.

Personally I don't look at the films in terms of a "timeline".
It's like in Batman, in four films we had three different actors from 1989 to 1997 and it clearly is the same Bat-universe.
(...with the compliments of the 2009 version of my sister who used to listed to them all the time. Some of it sunk in, it seems.)
