This is not the place to write this I know but i can not find the off topic chat section.

I forget his name but I would just like to thank the ajb member who told me about James Bond audio books. I tried to read Casino Royale but my poor reading of English let me down. I have been listening to the book read. I am not very far listening to the book but I am really enjoying it and now I can listen to the Ian Fleming 007 books! Thank you once again my friend.

They can be very useful, I listen to them when walking the dog or on a long drive.

I'm off to the Isle of Arran for a couple of days from tomorrow. The band play there often, but Bride of Barbel says she'd like to spend a few days there so off we go.

Hello, everybody; new Bond fan here. That is to say, I've been a Bond fan for a while and only thought to look for forum recently.

My first glimpse of James Bond was the opening sequence of FYEO, when I was a really, really little kid. I was so young, I didn't realize that the guy in the wheelchair was a really bad guy; all I knew was that I was freaked out by the helicopter sequence and shocked by what happened to the wheelchair-man.

A couple years later, the family caught Goldfinger playing on television, starting with the title sequence (missed the pre-credits sequence). It was one hellavu movie. But I was a bit clueless that there was a whole phenomenon. In my junior year of high school Goldeneye arrived, bringing with it an opening of awareness. I had never seen the gunbarrel opening, and had no idea this was how the movies start. GE started out in my head conceptually as James Bond: The Movie, but gradually over time I gained an understanding of the series and GE's place in the overall phenomenon.

I'm most familiar with the movies, but I've read Casino Royale and have a collection of the penguin editions with those cool, colorful retro covers (I really like those covers!). Casino Royale surprised me by how the literature world of bond was more of a 50's noir-thriller kind of thing; an impression I never got from the movies. I've been planning go further with the original Flemming books recently, in there series order. Although I can't explain why I haven't read more, I really liked Casino Royale and enjoyed Ian Flemming's prose style.

Oops! I never noticed that before. I made a similar error with an actor's name on another forum, I never noticed that I was adding an extra letter. Thanks for pointing that out! :)

Is it just me or does anyone else feel this thread is a bit like a bondaholics anonymous meeting, where new members stand up and introduce themselves with a short explanation of their addiction.

My AJB friends. I have been very busy these past few weeks. I have had no time to look at the AJB site, but this does not mean I have forgotten it or the friends I have made here. I will be very busy in the weeks to come also, I may not have time to visit again before Christmas, so I will wish you all a very merry Christmas and a peaceful and Happy new year.

    My kind regards to everyone.
